O2 True Believers- A FORCE FOR GOOD
TEAMWIDE PROJECT FOR APRIL
April: National Donate Life Month
Organ procurement organizations, transplant centers, national donation organizations and other organizations sponsor special awareness events and donor recognition ceremonies to promote donation awareness and registration. National Donate Life Month was established in 2003. Every day in April, people across the U.S. make a special effort to celebrate the tremendous generosity of those who have saved lives by becoming organ, tissue, marrow, and blood donors and to encourage more Americans to follow their fine example. *organdonor.gov
Currently more than 120,000 men, women and children are awaiting organ transplants to save their lives. Thousands more are in need of tissue and cornea transplants to restore their mobility and sight. Transplantation is one of the most remarkable success stories in the history of medicine. But despite continuing advances in medicine and technology, the need for organs and tissue is vastly greater than the number available for transplantation.
Transplantation gives hope to thousands of people with organ failure and provides many others with active and renewed lives. Transplants also keep families together!
Let's use April as a month to spread love and hope to the families who have children who are either on the waitlist for transplant or have had a transplant! We will do this by having each team member work toward donating a locket to the Mom of the family and a locket to the child if she is a girl and a Warrior or Fearless Tag to the child if he is a boy. We have over 900 members on our team. If everyone participates, we could potentially be giving this beautiful gift to that many families!!

How Do We Participate in This Project?
Be creative with this project! It is up to you how you want to do this, after all, who can criticize someone who is trying to Be a Force For Good?
Here are some ideas:
*Do you already know a family you want to help? Put the story out there of what your plans are and ask for assistance from your customers to donate toward the lockets. You can have them Paypal you their contribution.
*Ask your customer base to nominate a family to receive these gifts. Ask them to email you the child's picture and story to you. Print that out and put it in a frame. Display this on your table at your Jewelry Bars in April. Be sure to mention this child and his or her family at your Jewelry Bars and what you are doing and ask if anyone would like to contribute to this gift. Bring a nice card with you to the Jewelry Bars so those who decide to contribute can sign it, and you can present that card with all the signatures to the family when you give them their gifts.
*Want to participate but you or your family and friends do not know a family to do this for? No worries! I know LOTS! I will be posting a file on our facebook team page, and bigtent.com forum that you can look through to decide who you would like to work with.
Again...those are just suggestions. If you have some ideas, please share!
We will be coming up with a graphic that we can post on our facebook pages and social media outlets. I will be drafting up a newsletter, much like what you are reading and looking at now, but for the customers to be the audience. And you can copy and paste what I wrote into your own newsletter, and put your contact info on the bottom, like how mine is. I love smore.com! Its easy to use and looks great!
GREEN RIBBON = HOPE
Q's and A's
Q: When can we start? Is this just for April, or can we start talking about this to our customers and getting nominations now?
A: Yes, you can start NOW!
Q: Does everyone on the team need to participate? Is this mandatory?
A: No, it is not. But I hope that you do decide to join this project.
Q: How do I find a family to donate to?
A: There are several families who are on this facebook group page, waiting to be connected with. Request to join the page, and scroll through the posts. Comment on the ones which you would like to connect to. These stories of strength and survival are so inspiring. https://www.facebook.com/groups/BeAForceForGoodinApril2014/
Q: Who "qualifies" to receive this gift?
A: Any family who has been affected by organ failure and needing a transplant, or has had one. You make the call. Several families have to travel far and frequently for doctor appointments, labs, or hospital stays. Not every hospital is a transplant center and when patients are hospitalized, usually the stay is not a short one. It becomes hard on a family, especially when the family is separated because the father has to work, or siblings are in school. A locket and Tag can give so much hope, remind them to have faith, and cheer up someone who is going through the fight of their life.
Q: Can we work with more than one family?
A: Yes, you take on as much as you would like to.
Q: How do I charge shipping if its only one charm someone wants to buy to donate? I would hate to charge shipping for one charm.
A: Decide at your discretion to put separate customer orders together to save on shipping. Have them all shipped to one location- your house or the hostess'.
Q: Have more questions?
A: Please email them to kmks.owl@gmail.com
Again, be creative with how you would like to approach this project. There are no set rules or guidelines except to follow your heart.
Trubies to Celebrate April With!!
Mya- Krista Saysanam's daughter
Mya was born a healthy little girl. Little did we know she had a rare liver disease that would present itself when she was 4 months old. After weeks of tests, evaluation and trying to find alternatives to save her liver, in order to save her life, there was no other option but transplant. She was placed on the transplant list and because of how close to death she truly was, she was placed top on the list for her age group and blood type. Her transplant happened a week later, when she was only 6 months old. Today, she is a happy and healthy girl who enjoys playing with her friends, drawing, and loves to eat chicken. Kristin- Brenda Maciel's daughter
Brenda took Kristin to the pediatrician when she was 1 month old. She knew something wasn't right. Even though Brenda was a new Mommy, her mother instinct told her that when the doctor said her baby was healthy and fine, to go get a second opinion. Turns out, Brenda was right. Kristin had a rare liver disease. With months of trying to manage the disease in hopes to not need a transplant, her doctors placed her on the waitlist. At one point, Kristin was given only a 30% chance of survival! They waited two long years to receive the call that would save her life. Kristin received her gift in May of 2010 when she was 2 years old. She is now a happy and healthy little girl who loves to play dress up, enjoys puzzles, and is an amazing big sister to her two younger sisters.
Let's Go For The Green Ribbon!
Being a mother to a medical needy child, if someone was to reach out to me, and give me a locket filled with charms that represented hope, faith, and love, I would be so grateful and would cherish that gift. I truly hope that you put all excuses aside and join the team in this project!!
