Mrs. Lyon & Mr. Peri's Class Info
Week of 2/1-2/5
In reading, we are continuing to work on our wax museum projects. The speech rough draft is due on Friday. Students are welcome to come in at 7am each morning to work on research or writing. Students got a new pink spelling packet today, and pages are due Friday. They also received their February reading logs. Reading logs from January are due signed by Friday.
In social studies, students are beginning a new unit over Westward Expansion.
In science, students are learning about fossil fuels and alternative energy. They will be doing a project later in the week where they design a city and use alternative energy sources to power it. They will have to come up with a blueprint design and present these city projects to the class.
In math, we are learning about Order or Operations and algebraic expressions. Students will be introduced to variables and algebraic expressions this week. Also, last week we concluded our Think Through Math challenge with Ms. Craig's math classes. Students in fifth grade collectively completed 2,488 lessons during our challenge! Of those lessons, 1,233 came from our class!!
As a reminder, Frankford blue and yellow forms are due ASAP if they have not yet been returned. Frankford will be coming on Friday so they can finalize schedules.
