LISD is spotlighting.............
Our School Nurses!
On National School Nurse Day & LISD honored our six school nurses who care for students. Our nurses see many children throughout each day that don’t feel well or who are hurt. But they also provide a wealth of information that supports a successful education. Our nurses provide more than bandaids and they do more than check fevers. They are first responders for medical concerns, administer mid-day doses of medication, and provide resources for parents. As team members, school nurses play a vital role in guiding students to healthy lifestyles. We are very thankful that we have nurses available in our schools. Thank you, ladies, for keeping LISD healthy!
And our Levelland Police Officers........................
It's National Police Appreciation Week & LISD is celebrating our police officers! These guys & girls not only keep us safe, but they also educate our students on safety throughout the year and join in on the fun too. We appreciate their commitment to keeping our schools and students safe. Show some love and gratitude to the policemen around town and our LISD Resource Officers. We appreciate them every day and honor them this week!
Around LISD................
YELL DuckPluck!
The LHS YELL Members held their second annual DuckPluck over the weekend. YELL members sold 1,000 ducks for $5 each to raise money for future scholarships. The first duck drawn brought in $750 for Bill Powell, the second $500 duck drawn went to Kirk Rogers, the third $250 duck fished out went to the Lions Club Kirk Rogers, and the Dead Last Duck left in the water was purchased by Breakfast Rotary. YELL sends out a huge thank you to all the Levelland organizations that let us come speak at your meetings and for your purchases of the Ducks. YELL also thank Jim Mara, Amber Smith & the Country Club for letting us use the pool! We appreciate everyone that helped make these scholarships happen! We are glad that these kids are leaving it better than they got it!

These musicians also performed at the Abernathy Music Festival and earned "First Division Ratings” from all judges. Around 60 bands perform at this music event annually. LMS GT Expo!
LMS GT students held their GT Expo last night. Students had to choose one project from many this year to show off and discuss with visitors. The Gifted and Talented Projects were tied in with a core subject of math, science, history, or English. This year LMS GT students presented projects where they designed and engineered tiny homes, studied altitude, and had fun with probability in math. They built a catapult during science. They presented WWII facts from history. Students even wrote a book on how to play the guitar and the features of characters in stories, using English skills! This was a great way to show off just one concept learned this year. Great job LMS kids!
