Notes from the Administration
We are putting finishing touches on the school, and gearing up for another successful year at Whittier. Please read this newsletter in its entirety to ensure that you and your child are prepared for a successful year!

Mark your calendars for August 30th.

5:30 Back to School Fair
5:45 Back to School Night for 3rd, 4th, 5th Grade

At the assigned times, you will be able to walk to the classroom with your child. A WHES staff will then take students to our Dunk Booth, Kona Ice, and games while you are able to listen to the Back to School presentation from the teacher.
Dress Code
Board of Education policy 439 - Dress Code has been updated. Changes that are imperative for Whittier students, is that hats are not permitted to be worn in the school building or our school buses.
Thank you for working with us to ensure that we are able to abide by the policies set forth by our Board of Education.
The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)
With ESSA, states have adopted accountability plans for student achievement. Local school systems have also adopted measures to ensure that students are present for learning. Whittier is proud to be one of 3 schools in FCPS schools to have had an excellent rating of 96.1%
We are going to continue to monitor attendance closely. Just as a reminder, school doors open @ 8:30 am. Students are marked late after 8:55 am. Our instructional day ends at 3:30.
We appreciate your support with these goals!
Parent Volunteers/Visitors to the Building
FCSP has adopted a new identification system for parents wishing to visit in the school building. The system is called, Raptor. You will be required to provide your driver's license to our 10 month secretary.
Parents will still need to complete our Volunteer Training in order to volunteer for school events, chaperone a party, or chaperone a field trip. Volunteer training will be completed during the Back to School presentation on August 30th.
We will offer volunteer trainings once a month starting in September.
