mrs. coleman's weekly news!

April 20-25

Happy Earth Day! All about plants, the planet and Science!

This week we completed SAT 10 testing. The testing measures phonics, reading, math and listening comprehension. The scores of the test will be given out in June. The test scores give a percentile rank of your student across all Chesterbrook Academy Kindergarten classes in the U.S.

We also did some activities to celebrate Earth Day! We completed a science experiment using napkins, water, and food coloring to show how roots feed plants. They wrote and drew about their observations and conclusions. They also made a flower and labeled the correct plant parts as an art project. They created mosaic Earth pictures using black, green, and blue construction paper and wrote about ways they take care of Earth. Everyone shared and read how they help the Earth.

We worked on writing and recording science experiment parts with hypothesis, procedure, observations, materials and conclusion using a bubble experiment. Everyone used three pipe cleaners to create three different bubble wands to test if they would actually blow bubbles out of them. They began by listing the materials that were needed and writing their hypotheses. Everyone was very excited to build and test their bubble wands. Please see below! :)
