Academic RtI
We will conduct RtI meetings on October 12th after the kids leave.
Jennifer, Stephanie, and Amy are your contact people for academic RtI.
Please get all data pieces to Jennifer by Wednesday, October 10th.
Tier 1
Teacher collects data on academic weaknesses and interventions on the Tier 1 Data Tracking Form
If Tier 1 interventions are not effective, teacher refers student to Campus Behavior RtI Committee.
Tier II
- We will make a plan in the RtI meeting.
- If the implemented plan does not show improvement, a SIT team meeting is scheduled. This meeting will include parents.
Tier III
- Students that are currently in this Tier are served in intervention.
Behavior RtI
We will conduct behavior RtI meetings on October 12th after the kids leave.
Donese, Clayton, and Amy are your contact people for these revised processes.
Please get all data pieces to Donese by Wednesday, October 10th.
Tier 1
Teacher collects data on frequent disruptive behavior using Tier 1 Data Tracking Form
Severe behaviors are referred to the office (See Classroom vs. Office behavior chart in the HJH Handbook).
If severe behaviors repeat, data collection begins in classroom just like it would for more minor behaviors.
If Tier 1 interventions are not effective, teacher refers student to Campus Behavior RtI Committee.
Tier II
- We will make a plan in the RtI meeting.
- If the implemented plan does not show improvement, a SIT team meeting is scheduled. This meeting will include parents.
Tier III
- Students that are currently in this Tier are served in our redirection program.
Redirection
- Only students that are identified through the RtI/SIT process, or through 504/SpEd process are served.
- No teacher may send a student to the redirection room unless they have been given passes to do so.
HJH Behavior Team
Looking for 90% of students, 90% of the time.
The HJH Behavior Team met on Monday, September 24th to review behavior trends from the first month of school. Here are the "notes" from that meeting:
Positive Behavior Tracking
- 3 students have reached "Cool Cat" status (we think others have their planners full but staff hasn't emailed Angie yet)
- 12 students have received "Bobcat Notes of Success" - remember to fill at least 1 out this grading period
Negative Behavior Tracking
- There have been 26 referrals for on campus disruption. It was noted by Mr. Farrell that that mainly consisted of disrespect issues.
- There have been 2 fights. One was a "real" fight, they other was a "play" fight on the playground for the sake of videoing.
- There have been 3 instances of skipping a class.
- There have been 13 bus referrals.
- There has been 1 mandatory DAEP placement.
Outcomes of the Meeting
- 6 students are being referred to campus level RtI. (their teachers will be instructed to keep data)
What EVERYONE Needs to Do:
- Increase # of Cool Cats - focus on Kindness that you see since we have been focussing on that as a campus
- Submit a Bobcat Note of Success if you've not already
- Have private discussions with students in regards to their behavior - remove their audience
- Enforce campus-wide expectations: hall passess, lunch and learn passes, backpacks, and carrying planners.
- Send students without planners to the office to get one.

HJH Family Night
October 2, 2018
Hallsville City Park
Last year was a HUGE success! So many families came to support their student. It was an awesome opportunity for us to build relationships outside the school day.

Staff Changes
Angie Williams will be taking over as our attendance clerk and Mattie Smith will take the AP Secretary.
Therefore, our receptionist is open!
Safety Reminders
Please keep the following safety practices in mind as we get comfortable with how things are going this year:
- Treat every drill like the real thing
- Keep classroom doors locked all day
- Close exterior doors behind you when you leave
- Check exterior doors as you walk past
- Wear name badges every day
General Reminders
- Take attendance EVERY class period
- Your attendance goes in Skyward and will need MATTIE tagged now
- If you need to email the nurse, her email is mbarron2@hisd.com.
- Scantron requests need to be to Robin at least 2 full days prior to your needing them
- Teams should be sending out 1 parent communication per week (parents are so appreciative of this)
- Grade entered within 48 hours
- The first ten people to email Stephanie with their favorite sonic drink will have one delivered next Friday.
- PATHS is very limited this year due to para schedules. Please only send work for those students that have attendance issues.
- Staff personal children - please keep them out of the office in the afternoons. We love them, but have had a couple of volatile situations lately that we don't want them caught up in.
