SAFETY - A TOP PRIORITY
Please note, the District works closely with local authorities to practice the drill most effectively. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security recommends utilizing a “Run, Hide, Fight” strategy, which the Adams-Friendship Area School District has adopted. What this means for our school is that adults are being trained on a variety of methods to keep students as safe as possible. Dependent upon the circumstances of the potential situation, they will strategically direct students to evacuate, hide, or as a very last resort fight if neither of the first two options is available.
Please reach out to your child building principals with any further questions.
Attendance Policy For AFASD
Based on Wisconsin State Statute 118.15(3){c}, parent(s)/guardian(s) are authorized to excuse their student(s) from school attendance for any reason, up to a maximum of ten (10) days in a school year, provided they notify the school in writing prior to the absence. A physician’s medical explanation will excuse your student for the absence and may be required after a student is absent for part or all of ten (10) days. Whenever it is necessary for a student to be absent, the parent or guardian must notify the school office before 9:00 a.m. on the day of the absence to inform the school of the absence and the reason. Written notes or calls from parent/guardian(s) on the following day will be accepted. There is a 24-hour telephone access for reporting absences. The number to call is 608-339-4064, EXT 1302.
The school will inform you via a written letter when your student has reached 7 days of absence and 10 days of absence. Additionally, you will be notified when your student has accumulated unexcused absences and therefore may be subject to truancy per Wisconsin State Statute 118.15(3){c}.
