Panther Post Vol 1 Week 11
Principal's Message
Hello Panther Family,
Thank you for your continued support of our school. Your partnership allows us to ensure the best outcomes for all scholars. We are quickly approaching November and the end of the first semester is on the horizon. Make sure you are communicating with your scholars teacher to help foster academic growth. We know there are many challenges with our school buses. I want to assure you that the district is working on a plan to help get our scholars to and from school on time. If you have any concerns please reach out to the transportation department.
Below are some important information to help you prepare for the week ahead.
- Title 1 Parent Engagement- As a Title 1 school, we strive to keep our parents and families engaged with a variety of input opportunities, volunteer opportunities, learning opportunities, and an overall commitment to provide the best for our scholars. We share our yearly parent compacts, which is a collective agreement among families, students, and the school to ensure student achievement. In order to view up to date Title 1 information and our compacts, please use this link https://www.fultonschools.org/domain/4806
- Device Deployment- The time is here! We have begun device deployment. Students in grades 3-5 will be issued a device to utilize both at school and at home. Devices will remain at school on the day prior to any major assessment. For ALL students to be issued a device families must sign the user agreement in Infinite Campus under documents. Students in K-2 will have usage of devices while at school. Parents and families still must sign a user agreement so their scholar can use the technology. The flyer for information is below.
- Red Ribbon Week- Beginning October 24th through the 28th, we will celebrate red ribbon week, where we pledge to remain drug free! . Each day there are daily themes which teachers and students can participate with.
- November 8th- Remote Learning Day- Coming up November 8th, all FCS schools will engage in a remote learning day. Students will receive their focuses/assignments on Monday, November 7th to complete and engage in on November 8th. All work from that day is to be completed by November 9th
Family Engagement Month – “Family Matters”- November is National Family Engagement month. Join us for "Family Matters," a celebration of FCS families and their role in the education and well-being of their students. There will be interactive workshops, hands-on activities, vendors, entertainment, giveaways, free food, and a few special guests! Students may attend one or all events at four locations from November 14 through November 17. Please RSVP by November 1. The following schools (with links to Eventbrite) are hosting events for the entire district:

Dear Asa G. Hilliard School Parents:
This is an exciting time for Asa G. Hilliard Elementary School and an exciting time to be a part of the Asa G. Hilliard ES Parent Teacher Association (PTA). The PTA is a school independent organization comprised of parents, teachers, and the school administration to help foster a positive and supportive school experience for our students. The Asa G. Hilliard ES PTA is responsible for and/or sponsors many school activities such as the PBIS, Student of the Month, Academic Award Programs, teacher appreciation breakfasts & lunches, awards to teachers and coaches for outstanding achievements, snacks for students during state testing, movie nights, dances, pizza parties for classrooms, fall festivals, Field Day, and school fun days. The PTA is a tremendous opportunity for parents to get involved in their school, have a forum to voice concerns or help promote excellent work from both our students and the school’s faculty and staff. This year, the PTA officers will help bring about a resurgence in the PTA in terms of membership, participation, activities, and involvement. One of our most significant achievements was being awarded a National Grant to host a Stem Family and Student Day. However, the PTA cannot function and will fail without parent involvement and leadership. I urge and plead for every single parent to join the PTA and become involved in your child’s school experience. There is also a need for PTA Committee Members this 2022-2023 school year. The positions are: Reflections, Membership, Advocacy, Hospitality, Fundraising, Family and School Partnership, Health/Wellness/Safety Education. You must be a paid PTA member in good standing to run for any office, on any committee and or to vote in the officer elections. PTA membership is just $10.00 for the school year. You can join at any time by using the QR code, by returning the attached membership form, or you can come and join the PTA at any meeting. If you have any questions about the PTA, please email Dr. Jennifer E. Howard at drjeh700@aol.com, Mr. Raymond Selmon at Selmon@fultonschools.org or you can contact the school office.
