Teaches patients how to prevent or manage their condition so that they will achieve long-term health benfits

How to Become One

  • You must first graduate with a bachelor degree of Doctor of Physical Therapist
  • Must complete a clinical internship in an area such as acute or orthopedic care with supervised experience. DPT programs:Applied Physical Therapy, Functional Anatomy
  • Meet your state's licensing requirements. Complete the National Physical Therapy Examination(NPTE), which is administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy(FSBPT). The NPTE is a computerized, multiple-choice exam.
  • (Optional) Complete a residency, just additional training
  • (Optional) Obtain board certification, 2,000 hours of clinical work

Physical therapist examine each individual and develop a plan using treatment techniques to promote the ability to move, reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability.

Skills Required For This Job

  • Physical skills- safely be able to bend, crouch, push,pull and many others things to be able to engage with their patient
  • Mental skills- be able to identify a problem and problem solve to help the patient out to relieve the pain, handle the emotional stress from the patients, multitask, and to interact with the patients
