WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE CLASSROOM??
- Homework: Students need to complete their homework bingo sheet and math problem (pink paper). Please have your child return their homework in their orange folder by next Friday 9/13.
- Innovation: We will begin our first innovation block this week. Students will be in the innovation lab learning about different presentation tools such as stop motion animation and green screen.
- Language Arts -We will continue our unit Government for the People.This week students will read the text, Election Day and focus on identifying key details and answering questions about the text. In small group, students will be answering questions about the text and using evidence to support their answer. Please click here for the Unit 1 Parent Letter to see how you can continue the conversation about government at home.
- Math -Unit 1! The big concepts of this unit include addition, subtraction, rounding, graphing and place value/number sense. For more information about this unit, please read the Parent Letter. This week we will continue to practice place value, introduce rounding to the nearest 10 and nearest 100, and continue to practice the different addition and subtraction strategies. Students will be using the math programs Dreambox and Khan Academy to strengthen their understanding of math concepts and application of the skills they are learning.
- Writing -Students will continue writing their letter using evidence from last week's text, "Working Together."
- Spelling- Students will practice their spelling pattern with words using short vowel sounds. They will complete a variety of activities to practice these patterns and apply them in their own writing.
- Vocabulary- Students will be able to use reference materials to build their vocabulary. They will show their understanding of the words by using them in a sentence during collaborative conversations and in writing.
