"The Father of History"

INTRODUCTION

Herodotus was a ancient Greek historian and was born in Helicarnassus, Caria which is now Turkey. He was born in 484 BC and died in 425 Bc and is known as 'The Father of History' because he was the first writer to invent the field of study called 'History'.

SIGNIFICANT IMPACT

IMPACT MADE BY HERODOTUS

Because of Herodotus, he influenced mankind to record accurate information of the past. We have information that tells us about the ancient Greek civilisations, and the major events such as The Battle of Marathon. He provides information about the nature of the world and the status of science during his time, this gives us the idea of what it was like back then.

THE IMPACT MADE BY THE EVENT ON THE PERIOD

He was in the event of the time of when The Battle of Marathon happened. He recorded what happened during the battle, what each side saw. He also recorded the military tatics that the Greeks and Persians used, and the battle gear they used and wore. This impacted the citizens at that time and also the historians today because this was a recorded piece of history that ended the great Persian War between the Greeks and Persians. The were informed about what the soldiers experienced during battle and how military tactics were used, this gives us an idea of how advanced the civilisation was.
