Free and Reduced-Price Meal Applications
Please Help Increase Our School Funding by Filling Out This Application!
Although school meals are now free to all students, the application for free and reduced-price meals is still very important. School funding depends in part on the number of students at our school that qualify for free or reduced-price meals. With all students now eating for free, fewer families are completing the application and our school is at risk of losing much-needed educational funds. Plus, students that qualify for free or reduced-price meals may also be missing out on discounts on bus transportation, home internet, SAT and AP tests, and college application fees!
Even if you did not qualify before but your income has changed, you may qualify. (For example, children from a family of four are eligible if the total gross (pre-tax) household income is less than $4,279 per month, or less than $51,338 per year.) Household income information is confidential and applying online is quick and easy. Apply online at MySchoolApps.com, or pick up a paper application in the school office.Yearbooks on sale now!

ASVAB Test - December 6
The ASVAB is a test aimed at students in the 10th, 11th, and 12th grades (16yrs+). Results of the aptitude test and the interest inventory enable students to evaluate their skills, estimate their performance in academic and vocational endeavors, and identify potentially satisfying careers. Taking the ASVAB does NOT commit a student to enlist in the military. It is mainly offered at our schools as an assessment test but if a student were to choose enlistment down the line, they can apply their scores for up to two years. Scores tend to be higher for those who take the test while they are still in high school or shortly thereafter. If you are interested in taking the ASVAB, It will be offered on-campus at Poway High on December 6 @ 8:35 am in the Library Room L-13. You must register to take the exam - click here.
Need help with your Palomar College application?
Palomar College is offering an application workshop on December 13. During the workshop, students will complete the CCCApply application, set-up passwords, activate their Palomar email, review their placement, and apply for the Palomar Promise grant program.
Check this one off your to-do list before the end of the year!
SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE
Looking for scholarships? Our PHS website has lots of resources to check for scholarship opportunities. Our scholarship deadline log has new local scholarships and is updated as they become available. Generally, the local scholarship season is January – June so you won’t see as many opportunities right now. It’s still a good idea to regularly check scholarship websites for national scholarships and colleges for merit scholarships.

People who call, text, or chat 988 will be able to reach trained counselors who belong to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline network.
For non-urgent matters on campus, Mrs. Struck, our Student Services Specialist, is in K25 to listen and answer questions in a safe atmosphere of acceptance, non-judgment, and confidentiality concerning a variety of life’s challenges. K25 is in the Counseling Building.
