Director of Special Education Finalists Announced

Myra (Desha) Bierbaum

Desha is currently the Instructional Coach at Kathryn Senor Elementary. She taught at the elementary levels in both Garfield District 16 and Garfield Re-2. She is a former Assistant Principal at Bea Underwood Elementary in Parachute and former Principal at Wamsley Elementary. She holds Doctor of Education from the University of Northern Colorado, and a Master of Arts in Instruction and Curriculum from Lesley University.

Julie Goldberg

Julie is currently an Adjunct Professor at Colorado Mountain College Vail Valley and an Educational Consultant and Educational Evaluator. She is the former Director of Special Education for Eagle County Schools and Roaring Fork School District. She holds a Masters in Art in Educational Leadership, a Principal License K-12, and a Director of Special Education License all from Adams State University.

Diane Haupt

Diane is currently the Special Education Coordinator in Mesa Valley County School District 51. She served as the Director of Special Education in a variety of school districts in Wisconsin and as the School Psychologist in North Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and in School District of Superior. She holds an Ed.S School Psychology from the University of Northern Iowa, a B. A. Psychology and Sociology from Wartburg College and completed the Director of Special Education program through the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

Instructional Resources


  • Audience: Colorado River BOCES member districts or schools within our region who work with students with academic and adaptive learning needs.
