Safety at SCMS
Safety at SCMS and all Social Circle City Schools is a top priority. This past week, administrators received information of a possible threat, which was investigated and addressed immediately. In cooperation with our full-time Student Resource Officer (SRO), Officer Edwards, Central Office Staff, as well as the Social Circle Police Department, several precautionary measures were put in place to further ensure the safety of all students and staff.
As we encourage students to speak up if they hear or see any suspicious activity, several students at SCMS came forward this past week with details that allowed administrators to take immediate action and ensure the continued safety of all students and staff. We applaud these students who spoke up and took the initiative to look out for the well-being of others.
Please continue to encourage your child to speak up if he/she is a witness to any suspicious activity. As always, please feel free to contact Dr. Clark or Dr. McCain if you have any questions or concerns. We thank you for your trust as we continue to make safety our top priority for all.

“See Something, Send Something” provides a platform to capture a photo of suspicious activity or send in information with written text. Information received in the app is sent directly to the Georgia Information Sharing and Analysis Center (GISAC) where the tips can be evaluated and provided to law enforcement across the state as needed. The application is available at no cost for iPhone and Android phone users, as well as iPad users. To download “See Something, Send Something,” click on the image above.
The service, provided by My Mobile Witness, Inc., uses privacy protection software to safeguard users’ personal information and the integrity of tips. The system allows citizens to engage with GISAC without tracking locations or storing any personal information. Submitted tips are immediately removed from the mobile device and purged from the My Mobile Witness system following delivery to GISAC.
NOTE: This system is NOT intended for emergency situations. For situations requiring an immediate response, call 911 or your local law enforcement directly.

GADOE Student Health and Parent Survey
The 2022-2023 Georgia Student Health Survey and Georgia Parent Survey will be administered soon. Survey participation is voluntary, but the GADOE strongly encourages participation in the surveys to provide schools with critically important data to help guide prevention and intervention strategies.
The surveys will open on Monday, November 7, 2022, and remain open through Friday, March 17, 2023. Please note that the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA) requires that schools notify parents/guardians about the student survey and give them the option to opt out if so desired.
