Poem facts from the colonial days
Poems were primarily devotional during this time. American Poetry was inspired mostly from Europe early on. Poetry reflected on the beauty of the new world, homesickness of the old world, and Christian piety. Three most important poets were Anne Bradstreet, Edward Taylor and Michael Wigglesworth.
