My Baptism

Rosa Aguilar

My Baptism Day

Born: July 12, 2000

Baptized: September 27, 2000 in Tijuana, Baja California at 'Parroquia de Jesucristo Sumo y Eterno Sacerdote'

Fun Fact: I was baptized on the day of my Uncle Cesar's (my godfather) birthday!

the story behind my name, Rosa Karina

My grandmother, father's mother, was named Rosa. She passed away a year before I was born. As an homage to her, my parents named me 'Rosa'.

My aunt, mother's sister, was named Karina. She, too, passed away a more than year before my birth. She was my moms only sister, so my mother decided to make 'Karina' my middle name.

My Godparents

My godparents are my uncle and a family friend. My uncle is my mom's younger brother, Cesar. My godmother, Eva, or 'Tia Evita' is a friend from my dad's side of the family ever since he was little.

Every time my family and I go to my grandparents ranch in Tecate, which is every other weekend, I see my uncle Cesar. My mom and him are very close, so we spend lots of time with him and his family. Sadly, I do not keep in touch with my godmother.

All of my family is from Mexico, meaning that everyone flew from different places. Some came all the way from Guadalajara, Aguascalientes, and Colima, while some traveled short distances, from Mexicali and Tijuana as well!

Gospel of Mark 10:13-16

Mark 10:13-16-

And they were bringing children to him, that he might touch them; and the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw it he was indignant, and said to them, "Let the children come to tom, do not hinder them; for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it." And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands upon them.

This reading truly speaks about welcoming a child to the kingdom of God and telling them to come to him and not let others bring them. I liked this reading because it shows how we are to come to God when we need Him.
