Many thanks to Emily Ramthun, G2M Site Coordinator, for her leadership on Winter Fest last Saturday! Additional thanks to ALL the volunteers who helped ensure the event’s success. At least 200 people attended. The PTO was happy to pay for the bus, snacks, prizes, and games at the event. We appreciate all those who support the fundraisers that enable the PTO to support All-School Events like this!
Read Across America Week
Thank you to all students for making this a great week and dressing up every day! We had many, many students show their creativity in the ways they dressed up!
On top of the dress up days and daily read alouds, students participated in a variety of activities in the library, including a Fairy Tale Villains Breakout Challenge and activity stations where they did book trivia, built structures using KEVA planks (practicing being architects like Iggy Peck), searched for Mo Willems' pigeon, wrote/recorded book reviews, and learned how to draw Dr. Seuss characters.
Don't forget to keep track of your independent reading! Some of the reading slips have started coming in, and we'll start keeping track on the bulletin board beginning next week! Remember that more slips may be picked up in the library.

Wausau School District Referendum Information
On Tuesday, April 5, 2022, residents of the Wausau School District will vote on a referendum question.
If approved by voters, the $119,800,000 million referendum would lower the tax levy, while at the same time allow the district to address its most pressing facility needs. The district would move forward with safety & security improvements at all elementary schools, as well as, adding additional classroom space at Stettin, South Mountain, and Riverview elementary schools to address increasing enrollment and alleviate capacity concerns. The district is also moving forward with all work at its middle and high schools; addressing deferred maintenance and safety and security needs there. It will also make facility improvements at the Wausau School Forest, including a new Environmental Learning Center.
An approved referendum would have an estimated property tax impact of negative $0.43 on every $1,000 of property value in the school district. The owner of a home valued at $150,000 would see an annual tax reduction of about $64.50.
The solution the Board of Education is presenting on April 5 was created based on the input and feedback of our community. This effort included online surveys for community and staff members, three community engagement sessions, staff listening sessions at all schools, and engagement on social media. We have also communicated and gathered feedback through a facility needs webpage and via the local media.
We invite you to learn more about our district’s needs, how the board developed the proposed solution, and the question that will appear on the April 5 ballot at wausauschools.org.

New COVID guidelines - February 2022
COVID-19 Testing Sites
The Wausau School District is now offering free PCR COVID-19 testing to all students, staff, and even their immediate family members.
Testing is now available, on a limited basis in a mobile unit. Below you will find a schedule that shows where the unit will be and when.
Everyone who would like to receive that free test must fill out a consent form. The consent form for students is available below, it’s also available on our website.
It’s imperative that you know the District will not test students without parental consent. Instructions for registering your child to receive testing are below. Once parents and guardians fill out the consent form, they must return it to their child(ren)’s school.
All staff and immediate family members of students and staff who would like to receive that free testing will give consent at the mobile unit.
You should also know this is all being done at absolutely no cost to the Wausau School District. In fact, the Department of Health Services is paying for it all -- including the testing of students, staff, and their immediate family members, along with paying for the staff who will administer the tests.
