Weekly Update February 17, 2023

The One-Room Schoolhouse, which was originally constructed in the 1800s and then moved and reconstructed in 2013, has recently been moved to its new location still on Havens Corners Road.

Recently, the One-Room Schoolhouse was put on a lift that carried it approximately 100 yards to its new location. This move will allow the building to continue to be showcased on the same property, but creates space needed as we continue construction on the new Gahanna Lincoln High School.

Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools are excited to announce the return of Spread the Word Day to the month of March!

Spread the Word is a time that we recognize and celebrate students of ALL abilities. This year's theme is "InclUSion - It takes ALL of US".

• Orders will be accepted online until Monday, February 20, 2023
• Orders will be delivered to the school you select during checkout, before celebration day
• Celebration day March 22, 2023

Our smallest Lions at the GJPS Preschool shared some Valentine's Day love by decorating cards for senior citizens during their February Caring Cubs Club.

Students from the elementary, middle and high school levels presented at the GJPS Board of Education meeting Thursday evening. Congratulations, students, on your confident and well-prepared presentations, and thank you families and GJPS teachers and staff for your support along the way.

We appreciate our School Resource Officers every day but especially on National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day which was celebrated this week.

Thank you Officers Huffman, Corbin and Lawrence for all you do to keep our GJPS students and staff safe!

For the past several months, the City has been working on updating its Comprehensive Parks Master Plan, which will guide the Department of Parks & Recreation in decision-making on policy, operations, maintenance and capital improvements over the next decade.

In November 2020, voters in the Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools district approved a bond and operating levy to fund Phase Two of the GJPS Master Facilities Plan.

Phase Two of the Master Facilities Plan Includes:

• Additions and renovations to High Point and Blacklick Elementary
• Additions and renovations to Middle School East
• New Lincoln High School on current site

BinaxNOW At-Home COVID-19 Rapid Test Kits are currently available for students and staff currently enrolled in GJPS schools who are EXHIBITING SYMPTOMS of COVID-19.

REQUEST FORM MUST BE COMPLETED IN ADVANCE
While supplies last, you may request kits for:

• The number of students you have enrolled in Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools in your household who are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19.

• The number of GJPS staff in your household who are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19.

A confirmation email will not be sent.
