Cougs Rise is an initiative of the Office of the Provost funded by grants from the U.S. Department of Education. The program offers low-income and first-generation students from Hudson's Bay High School college preparation programming and mentorship designed to boost their chances of earning a college degree. Cougs Rise Seminar day is Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 2:15 PM. in the Career Center. https://cougsrise.wsu.edu/
Boeing Tech Prep is a summer student development program for high school juniors who have their eye on a future in aerospace manufacturing. The Boeing Company management and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers are proud to be sponsors of this program in the Portland, Oregon metro area.
Boeing will be on campus to talk to juniors about the Tech Prep program, a three year paid summer internship. This is for students interested in pursuing a manufacturing career. The presentation will be in the Career Center on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at 12:15PM.

Local employers will be representing a variety of job sectors and will talk about careers within their organizations. The fair will be on Thursday, February 21, from 5:00PM-7:00PM at Battle Ground High School.

Running Start has an Information Night at Clark College on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 from 7:00PM-8:00PM The Running Start program allows high school juniors and seniors to earn college credits while completing their high school education— saving students money while advancing their education.
Students are able to attend college, at minimal cost, while still living at home as a high school student.

Junior Week Focus Week February 25-March 1
This week juniors will be working on their High School and Beyond Plan, meeting with counselors to review graduation requirements and pre-forecast for 12th grade. Counselors will also help students log in to their College Board account to prepare them for the school wide SAT test on March 6. Students will also be participating in a financial literacy fair sponsored by IQ Credit Union and hearing from a guest speaker from the “Ready to Rise” Portland leadership development program to wrap up the week. Look for additional opportunities in this newsletter and on our school website for more post-secondary planning events!

Scholarships opening in February
BBB Foundation #BBB5K Video Scholarship applicants must produce a 90-second video using the topic Why BBB and Trust are Important to Local Businesses and Communities. Past videos may be viewed by visiting BBB Serving Northwest + Pacific YouTube channel.
Your video will be uploaded to the scholarship videos page where you can encourage your friends and family to vote for your video.
Eligibility
- Attend a high school in Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington and Western Wyoming. Finalists will be required to produce an official transcript on a 4.0 scale from an academic institution.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Attending an institute of higher education, whether university, college, vocational school, etc.
- Group applications must have no more than three students.
Ten finalists will be selected from the application pool. Only one recipient will win the #BBB5K Video Scholarship. View the complete rules & regulations.

Washington State offers financial aid programs to students who aren’t eligible for federal financial aid because of immigration status. These students still need to meet other program requirements.
