A Message From Heather Patterson, GRHS Principal
Happy Sunday GRHS Longhorns,
We are on countdown now. Only 10 more school days until winter break! As I mentioned last week and every day on announcements the exemption window is NOW OPEN December 2nd-6th. This is a HARD deadline. Please read the below criteria carefully and make sure you follow it. If you have questions, your Assistant Principal and Counselor are here to help, and as always I have linked their email in this newsletter multiple places to help assist you with contacting them. Now, it is up to YOU to take the initiative to make it happen. This is a high school responsibility task, it's something that is EARNED, not just given, so make sure you take care of your business. There is no wiggle room here.
We have a few ranch rules and procedures that need tightening up. Please read!
- If you are a student driver, you must be following the parking lot etiquette, by not speeding, crossing over other lanes to get out of the parking lot, and staying OFF YOUR PHONE. This is creating an unsafe space for our campus, and will not be tolerated. Parents, please speak to your Longhorn. Driving and parking on campus is a privilege, not a right. If this continues to happen, we will use the video to identify you, and your parking pass will be revoked for at least six weeks, and after that for the remainder of the year. This means you will not be allowed to drive or park on the campus. The safety of others is more important than you exiting the parking lot 5-10 minutes earlier.
- Keep your hands and belongings to yourself. Good choices matter, everyday!
- Please make sure you are wearing your 22-23 GRHS ID at ALL TIMES when you enter this building.
- Those phones need to be put away and your ears need to be CLEAR of the airpods/headphones in the hallways and during class time.
- Hoodies must be down inside the building.
PTO (along with our amazing parents' help) is wanting to provide a dessert bar for our staff luncheon on the last Friday, December 16th. Desserts can be dropped off in the front office on Thursday (Dec 15th) or anytime before 10:00AM on Friday the 16th! If you have ANY OUTSTANDING FINES (for the extra IDs or library books) they need to be cleared Monday or you will NOT be eligible for semester exemptions. The updated fine list is printed by student ID and posted on the library and cafe windows. Please stop by the library from 8:00am-8:15am or during lunches to clear your name off the list so that you will be eligible for your exemptions! There have been emails going out and phone calls being made. It is your responsibility to get this taken care of. Please bring cash to the library and Mrs. Rubin will give you a receipt showing you are clear. Thanks to everyone that has already taken care of this!
Weekly ID Reminder:
ID's MANDATORY! $5 replacement charges in place now. The first free ID (lanyard and protective case) have all been passed out. This MUST be worn visibly on the top half of your body EVERY DAY! I have been announcing this EVERY SINGLE MORNING. If you do not have one, this is on you. You have had MANY opportunities to correct this, so now it's your turn to be responsible. Please scan the Blue/Yellow QR code in this newsletter, in the classroom, or hanging in the front of the school to buy one. We will continue to do ID sweeps, and anyone without one will be charged $5 and given a new one. This is NOT optional, as it is part of dress code, but more importantly a safety measure.
