2019 - 2020

It is my sincere hope you are enjoying summer. I have certainly enjoyed time with my family! The purpose of today’s communication is to share with you information about our registration process for the 2019 - 2020 school year.


I look forward to the beginning of the 2019 - 2020 school year. In partnership with you, this promises to be a year of success, progress, and growth for our students. I hope you enjoy the remainder of the summer. I will see you soon!

General registration information

In our continued effort to make our operations more efficient for families, our registration process is again through an online registration system called PowerSchool Enrollment. All families will be able to update critical information from home or work by accessing this site through the district website. If you have students in multiple buildings, they will all be linked for you to update. Papers and/or contracts that you previously would print off and bring in to school on registration day are no longer necessary.

When can I register my child?

The week of August 12, 2019 you will receive an email from PowerSchool Enrollment with your code. Please check your junk/spam folder if you are not receiving communication(s) from PE that week. If you have not received information or you have an issue with your registration code, contact the main office. If you do not have access to a computer, you are welcome to come to Oakview starting Monday, August 19, 2019 to use a computer. It is imperative that the person that begins the PE process completes it. If the other person logs on, the system will lock.


If you have a student at Lake Orion High School you will receive information that registration information August 1, 2019. You will not receive elementary or middle school student registration information until August 12, 2019.

Pictures - Smile pretty

School picture packages can be ordered online with Geskus Photography https://geskusphoto.com/?a=1586 or paid for on registration day. If the link does not work properly, go to www.geskusphoto.com website and enter in our school webcode 1586QFWNAOAYSO. It is important to note that every student needs to be photographed for school records at no cost to the family; picture packages are optional for families. This link will be active starting July 1, 2019.

Yearbook

If you are interested in purchasing a yearbook, orders can only be placed online with Jostens. Attached is information on how to order your yearbook. Please keep in mind that yearbooks can be purchased online throughout the school year, with a deadline in the mid-winter. After the deadline, yearbooks are available for purchase on the last day of school on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Walk through

Student walk through will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2019. If you have not completed the on-line registration before your arrival, we will have computer stations for you to use. Save time by completing this task from home! On walk through day, students and parents will be able to pick up their schedule, locker assignment, and get their student picture taken, only after the on-line registration has been completed. Your advance preparation will make the process faster for everyone. The time frame is below:


8th grade => 8:00 - 9:30 am

7th grade => 10:00 - 11:30 am

CLOSED => 11:30 am - 12:30 pm

6th grade =>


  • 8:30 am - 12:00 pm - students only
  • 12:00 - 12:30 pm - student lunch
  • 12:30 - 2:30 pm - parents join for walk through

6th grade walk through details

The 6th grade students will actually spend the day at Oakview on August 20, 2019. The entire sixth grade will meet each other and their eighth grade mentors in the morning at 8:30 am. Transportation will run just like a normal morning for the sixth grade students so they can get an idea of their bus stop. Students will spend the morning playing games, meeting in small groups, and getting a chance to get acquainted to the building and our leaders. Lunch (pizza) will be provided to all sixth grade students at 12:00 pm. At 12:30 pm parents are welcome to join their child for walk through.

School supplies

A general grade level school supply list can be found below.


All students will receive a multi-subject folder from the school. There is no need for you to purchase one. Any additional and/or specific items that a team may need will be communicated by the teachers.

Immunizations

The deadline for all 7th grade students to have had their required immunizations is the first week of October. Any student that is not fully immunized by the deadline will be excluded from school. You will need to provide the counseling office with documentation of any vaccines given.

PTO

PTO will be utilizing the “Pay-Not-to-Fundraise” option again this year. Consider giving a monetary “Pay-Not-to-Fundraise” donation. Our PTO table will be highly visible this day. All of those that donate to the PTO will receive a special gift!


We hold PTO meetings every other month and they are quite informative. This is a casual meeting that allows for you to be "in the know" about Oakview. Please plan on attending these meetings.


The Oakview PTO is requesting contact information from 2019-2020 Oakview parents and/or guardians that would like to be involved in this Parent Teacher Organization. By completing this form, you are providing the PTO with your information so that we can email, call, or text you about PTO meetings, upcoming events, etc.

First day of school

The first day of school is Tuesday, September 3, 2019. School hours are 7:35 am - 2:25 pm. It is a half day to start and dismissal is at 10:25 am. The calendar for the school year is below.

Transportation information

You will receive information in the mail regarding transportation times two weeks before school begins. If needed, transportation can be reached at 248.391.5455.

Notes from Food Service

It is highly recommended that you pay for your child's breakfast and/or lunch online through www.sendmoneytoschool.com. This is an easy way to ensure that your money is used to feed your child and does not go to anything else :).


Free and reduced lunch applications can be completed online at www.lunchapp.com.

Fall athletic information

The fall sports are football (7th and 8th grade), cross country ( 6th - 8th grade), cheerleading (6th - 8th grade) and girl's basketball (7th and 8th grade). Below is a message from High School Athletic Director Chris Bell. All forms are now done online.


If your child is going to participate in athletics at the high school or middle school level, below is a very important message regarding our new student registration system. All student-athletes need to be registered before they are allowed to try out and practice with their teams.

We are excited to announce that the Athletic Department for Lake Orion Community Schools is launching FinalForms, an online system that will help us boost compliance and safety. FinalForms allows you to complete and sign forms from your computer, tablet, or mobile device.

The best news is: FinalForms saves data from season-to-season and year-to-year, meaning that you will never need to enter the same information twice!

FinalForms also pre-populates information wherever possible, saving you time if you have multiple children.

You may login any time to update information including emergency medical contacts and information. You will be required to sign your forms once per year and any time you make an update.
