Riverside Community Connection
Week of May 29th
Kindergarteners & Mike Arturi in Concert at Thursdays on First and 3rd!
We have been fortunate to have Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame band member from The Lovin' Spoonful, Mike Arturi working with our Kindergarten students. Some of The Lovin' Spoonful's hits are Summer in the City and Do You Believe in Magic?
Mike spent a week with our Kindergarten classes in March as they practiced drumming. The students practiced self-control, sequencing, intense listening skills, pattern, call and response, a love for learning and so much more. This opportunity also allowed them to persevere as they set their sites on a goal to perform in front of a live audience showcasing their performance art.
This opportunity has been made possible by the Minnesota State Legislature through its arts and cultural heritage fund.

Third Grade Goes to College!
By: Riley San, Julianna Puth, Ava Hart & Bianca Opdahl from Mrs. Guy's Class
When we first walked in I was really shocked because the space was really big and there were a lot of cool chairs. There were some high chairs that could even spin around. I liked the room because there were many seats so you can have your own space.
There were lots of cool things about the campus. I liked the library because it had a huge window and nice comfy beanbag chairs that were huge! We learned that when we go there to college we could go to the library anytime we want to study.
I also liked the chairs they had. They were really comfortable. In one room the chairs had a little desk. You could move it around. Those chairs were on wheels. The tables were nice and big for working with partners and also on wheels!
We also really liked the teachers that they had. I liked that the teachers told us a lot about themselves so that when we go to that college we will know who they are if we need them.
Also, don't you think it's kind of cool that there's a mall area below them?
I still wonder what the food tastes like there. I also wonder if they have roommates and if they have bunkbeds. I also still wonder how long the school day is.
We know that to go to college we will have to start saving up our money. We also know that we will need to do good in school to be able to go there. We are so excited!
Students from Mrs. Repede's third grade class included some of their hopes, dreams and memories from our visit. Here are just a few examples.
