K-12: The Story: Discovering the Narrative in Social Studies
Social Studies teachers face unique challenges in the classroom. Engaging students with content that seems irrelevant to them can be difficult but is key in their understanding of the past. This half-day session will aid Social Studies teachers in the creation of lessons with a focus on the stories of the past. We will look at the Social Studies TEKS for a unit and make connections that are engaging, relevant, timely, and above all else… fascinating. The morning session will focus on K-5 and the afternoon session will focus on 6-12, however teachers are encouraged to sign up for the full day as all the information is beneficial.
