Principal's Message

Welcome to a great school year Longhorn family. I trust that everyone enjoyed their much needed break. I am looking forward to beginning our new journey this school year. Our theme this school year is "The World Awaits" I believe this mantra is ideal for what we do here at Henry W. Longfellow as we strive to prepare our students to make an impact in an evolving global society.

Before we begin our journey together I would like to take time to welcome several new staff members that will be joining our team this year. Beginning with the front office our new office clerk is Ms. Gonzales and our office manager is Ms. Saenz. In the attendance office we now have Ms. Jackson our data controller, Ms. Romero our new registrar and Ms. Thomas will now serve as our attendance clerk. Mr. Rodriguez will be our new school monitor. We also have a new instructional coach that will serve as our ELAR/Social Studies and CATE coach, Ms. Tamala Gnikpingo. I would also like to extend a warm welcome to our new teachers: Mr. Eaglin-Law , Ms. Swanson-Spanish, Mr. Miller-Technology Applications, Mr. Sanders-8th Grade ELAR/English 1, Mr. Dixson-PE.

Below you will find a list of our new goals that will drive our work together and a calendar of what to expect for this first week. Please note that on PD days a light continental breakfast will be provided. Lunch will be on your own except for August 16th, PTA will treat us to lunch on that day.

I hope your last few days are restful. I look forward to beginning our new journey together. See you soon.

In Partnership,

Lorena Hernandez
