This week we will continue/conclude our current e2L: Now Hiring: Careers in Space! Products are due on Thursday, October 20th.
Mrs. Beam and Ms. Parker- This week we will be starting our next E2L unit: Journey to NASA. Students will working through the Launch/Team, Plan, and Research/Work protocols. Students will need to come to class each day with Chromebooks charged and ready to go!
Pre-AP Science ~ Ms. Quisenberry and Ms. Cox
This week we will continue our SSEP experiments and get resources. We will begin writing the proposals as well. We will start learning how to gather and organize data in charts and graphs.

Accelerated Science ~ Mrs. Irons
This week we will be working on our e2L “You are what you eat”. Students will be focusing on evidence of chemical reactions, reactions that occur in the digestive system, and balancing chemical equations. We will have a summative exam of TEKS 8.5ABCDEF on Friday, October 21 and will review on Thursday.
Pre-AP Math ~ Mrs. Justice and Ms. Gregg
This week students will continue their Engage2Learn Unit over integer operations. Students will investigate the rules for how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide positive and negative numbers. The students will create a poem, song, rap, mnemonic, acronym, or any other device they would like to help them remember the rules of integer operations. Students will have a quiz on Friday over adding and subtracting integers.

This week we will continue learning how to add and subtract positive and negative numbers. We will work with number lines, counters, and other models to represent the integer operations. Students will have a quiz on Friday over adding and subtracting integers

This week we will begin delving into the real numbers system with an emphasis on rational and irrational numbers. Students will classify, compare, and order real numbers. We will take a quiz on Friday over this information.

We will be working on an E2L project where students will be creating a presentation about a folktale from North America. This project will be due on Wednesday. We will have a test on the story elements of folktales on Monday, October 24.

This week students will continue their study of North America by learning how to analyze, make inferences and draw conclusions from expository texts. Students will read about and engage in a debate over our relationship with Cuba.
Students will test on Folklore Monday, October 17.

-We will be working on an E2L project where students will be creating a presentation about a folktale from North America. Students will also be rewriting a folktale to change the setting to the present. This project will be due on Wednesday. Students will present their presentation starting Wednesday. We will have a test on the story elements of folktales on Monday, October 24.
Art ~ Mrs. Beam
We will continue our unit on Value by working on our drawing of the eye. Students have been practicing and learning about Realism, the external anatomy of the eye, and the use of value in a large scale drawing.
If you did not purchase an art kit, your student is required to have a 9x12 sketchbook and an ebony pencil. Please purchase these supplies as soon as possible. We use our sketchbooks daily.
Beginning Band ~ Mr. Sypert
We are entering the final stretch on the fundraiser! (We are less than $1000 from our $7500 goal!) Videos are still due every Monday and Friday nights, please help ensure that your students are successful with these videos. Please help ensure you student doesn’t fall behind… they should be practicing every night.
