Elijah P. Lovejoy was an abolitionist, he was born in 1802. He was also the editor of the newspaper The Observer. Apparently he was a martyr to his cause. How he died
He was murdered because as it says in the previous paragraph it says that he was the editor of The Observer, and he wrote bad comments about slavery in The Observer. Due to this he was attacked multiple times by mobs. Once his printing press was even put on fire. Finally he died by protecting his printing press from mobs. He lived for 35 years. His death made the abolitionists cause stronger. http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/349544/Elijah-P-Lovejoy http://www.digitalhistory.uh.edu/disp_textbook.cfm?smtID=3&psid=313
Primary Source
This is my Primary source because it is a bunch of letters written by Elijah P Lovejoy. The one I used was written to his brother. In the letter it was written how his printing press was attacked and how he would die for his cause. So this letter is important because this shows that he was a martyr and that he was attacked, so my evidence is backed up.
