Conclusion Questions
1. When you had a chance to redo parts of your rocket, compare your original and new design. If you did nor change it, what about the design made it successful?
Originally our rocket only had three wings, and after testing it we saw that the rocket launched to the right instead of straight. When we were fixing out rocket we decided to put a fourth wing on, to balance it more. Adding the fourth wing made the rocket launch straighter, instead of going to the right
2. Apply 2 of the following words to one of your other courses
Action-Reaction not only applies to science but also to English. In my English class we were learning about Romeo and Juliet. In the play, "Romeo and Juliet," the characters actions have equal reactions. For example Juliet telling Lord Capulet that she was ready to marry Paris was the action, and Lord Capulet moving the wedding to the next day was the reaction. Motion also applies to cultural geography. One of the five themes of geography is movement. Movement in geography describes how goods and ideas get transported across the world. This is similar to how motion in science describes the movement of an object.
3. Describe how energy applied to the rocket launch and or the flight of your rocket?
Potential energy was applied to the rocket launch when we filled the rocket with pressurized air. The rocket had kinetic energy when we pulled the stopper out. When we did this nothing was stopping the pressurized air from pushing the rocket, so it flew and had kinetic energy.
4. Connect: You are in charge of designing a new automobile for a company you are working for in the future. What information about your rocket design would help in creating this new car? Think especially about the mass and where it is positioned in the car. Did it make a difference in your rocket?
From this rocket lab I would know that the car would have to be balanced on both sides in order for it to drive straight, and I would know that most of the mass would have to be in the front of the car if I wanted it to go fast. Putting the same amount of mass on the sides and more in the front made our rocket go straighter and faster when it was launched. I would also know to make the car more narrow in the front so that it would have less air friction when driving.
