News & tidbits from 4th Grade at HRRS
February 9, 2016
We have a short week of school both this week and next. There is no school this Friday; Conference Day. Monday and Tuesday are off for Presidents' Day. It'll be a nice, long weekend to rest and spend time with our families.
I have let the kids know that we will be having monthly book reports from now through June. Our first one for February is Traditional Literature (their choice of Tall Tales, Folk Tales, Fairy Tales, Fables, Myths or Legends). The books needs to be at a fourth grade or higher reading level, and of a length comparable to a "chapter book". I have offered a number of choices in the classroom, and books from home or the public library are welcome. I will be glad to "okay" outside choices as they are brought in. Story length retelling of fairy tales are great choice. King Arthur, Peter Pan, collections of Folk or Fairy Tales from other lands are readily available. This month will be a traditional book report, but we'll be trying other creative ones as well.
Registration for next year is currently going on for our returning families. Some of our classes are filling up rapidly, so if you haven't done so already, be sure and get that paperwork filled out. Tuition contract meetings will take place on Feb. 24-25 and open enrollment will begin on Feb. 29th.
We will be having an early Valentine exchange in our classroom toward the end of the day on Thursday, Feb. 11. Please feel free to send in a wrapped candy or other small treat to send home with classmates along with a Valentine; however we won't be able to have any refreshments in our classroom at this time.
I feel like perhaps I'm forgetting something, I hope that's not the case. :)
There's a lot of information in the Hawk Happenings newsletter this week so pay attention!
Have a lovely (foggy!) day!
