Rosa Parks Arrested for Civil Disobedience
Montgomery, Alabama , December 1, 1955- Rosa Parks, an educated seamstress was arrested for not following an Alabama law, that when a bus is full, all black passengers must stand and give their seats to a white passenger. Parks did not relinquish her seat to a white passenger even when the bus driver told her to, therefore, leading to her arrest for "civil disobedience". Her arrest helped to encourage a "381-day boycott of the Montgomery bus system."
