Mrs. Grant's Kindergarten
September 3-6
Long Weekend
Readers Workshop
Writers Workshop
This week we focused on getting ideas for our books. We learned to make sure you think about your story before starting to write. We talked about how authors do this before each book. We also introduced a 'longer' book for students who have lots of ideas. This will be our last week in our unit of study and books will be sent home on Friday with a rubric attached.
Word Work
We are still working on friends' names and our letter handwriting. During our word work stations we read words around the room, listened to a story and read books, pretend typed words on pretend ipads and laptaps, ABC puzzles focusing on alphabetical order, and word games.
Math Workshop
Project Learning
Other Happenings this week
Friday afternoon - I prepared the students for a sub all morning and I haven't heard yet, but I'm sure it was a fun afternoon. We talked about being patient, helping out our friends, and reinforcing being flexible with a new teacher and a new situation. I hope it worked!
What to know about next week
Thursday - Library
Friday - Students dismissed at 12:01 for teacher professional development day. No lunch will be served on Friday
Friday- back to school bash at BSE. It's Davis' birthday so we have family in town. I will be unable to make it this year. :( Have fun!
Snack update - fresh fruit, fresh veg, plain pretzels, plain crackers. No granola bars, vanilla wafers, pop tarts, or anything that contains peanut or tree nuts. I have been saying no to anything not from the list so you have probably noticed snacks coming back home. I have spotted lots of fruit, carrots, and crackers. Thank you for your help!
