Go Fourth!!
News and tidbits from the 4th grade class at HRRS.
Monday, April 26
The day is slipping away; so here's a quick "list" version of our famous newsletter. :)
Upcoming Events:
Spring Fling ~ this Saturday, April 30th. 5pm - 8pm at HOLY ROSARY An all school dance with food, lip-syncing, and dancing fun! Come join us! Parents, relatives all are welcome. All children must be accompanied by adult.
Gala ~ May 7th. If you are planning to attend the event or not, please consider donating to our tuition assistance fund. This year, we have been blessed to receive a matching grant. What does this mean? It means that ALL donations to our fund-a-need (tuition assistance) will be DOUBLED!! No donation is too small!! Even $10 can be doubled to $20. It's so easy to do. Three ways: on a form that will be in our Wednesday Envelopes, in the School Office or on our website. Thank you so much.
Student Baptisms and May Crowning at All-School Mass ~ Thursday, May 5th, 9am. Please send fresh flowers with your student for this special day.
Needs:
I mentioned it to the kids today, but if you have wooden skewers (usually made of bamboo from the kitchen department) you wouldn't mind donating, that would be amazing. We're using them for a special (secret- shhhh!) art project in fourth grade. We also need a can (or two?) of Gloss Spray Varnish (Krylon is one brand, it looks like a spray paint can) and some sturdy fishing line.
Also, a special word of thanks to Ana, Gabriel's mother for her ongoing help with our class library book covering project. I could really use a bit more help with grading papers or inputting a time or two a week if you have any spare windows of time. Monday mornings after you drop off your child would be a great time.... Any takers??
Last but not least, our class treasure box is not completely depleted, but could always use some fresh prizes!
Our science and Language Arts are overlapping a bit this week as we are learning about hurricanes; fascinating! We'll also be looking at the aftermath of Katrina in New Orleans.
In conjunction with these informational texts, we'll be learning about persuasive paragraphs- and writing our own.
All right, enough for today! Have a wonderful evening and blessed week,
Mrs. Ramos

P.S. Weren't the recycled t-shirt bags we made on Friday (in honor of Earth Day) awesome? Also, please keep encouraging your child to keep practicing their math on IXL. It makes a difference in their retention and performance!
