Story Time Programs

This fall, the Glocester Libraries’ Story Time programs will be live on Facebook in an effort to continue our tradition of Story Time programs while making your experience as safe as possible. Click the photo above to learn more about the sessions.


Tuesday Facebook Live Baby/Toddler Story Time

Begins Tuesday, September 15, 11 a.m., Facebook Live

Age Level: Infant to 3 years old

Join us on Facebook with your child, ages: infant to 3 years old, for stories, finger plays, and songs! This program repeats on September 22 and September 28; October 6, 13, 20, and 27; November 3, 10, and 17; and December 1 and December 8.


Thursday Facebook Live Preschool Story Time

Begins Thursday, September 17, 11 a.m., Facebook Live

Age Level: Ages 3 to 5 years old

Join us on Facebook Live with your preschoolers for stories, finger plays, and songs! This program repeats on September 24; October 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29; November 5, 12, and 19; December 3 and December 10.


Story Time with Miss Annie

Begins Thursday, September 17, video 3 to 5 minutes length

Age Level: Preschoolers

Watch a weekly prerecorded video with Miss Annie reading a story, offering suggestions for activities, and singing songs! New videos will be posted weekly on September 24, October 1, 8, 15, 22, 29; November 5, 12, 19; and December 3 and December 10.

Children Programs

Fall Storybook Crafts

September 1 through 30, during library hours, Glocester Manton Library

Age Level: Ages 5 and up

Get your take home kits at the Glocester Manton Library for you to enjoy. Read the book and then do the book themed craft. The book is yours to keep! A limited amount of kits will be available in our Children’s Room on a first-come, first-served basis.


Back to Nature Pick Up Crafts

September 1 through 30, during library hours, Glocester Manton Library

Age Level: All Ages

Let’s get back to nature in September. Our pick up crafts will be available every Monday in our foyer. They are fun crafts that will get children outside, from “Funny Forests” to Autumn Sun Catchers!” A new craft is available every Monday, on a first-come, first-served basis.

Monday, September 7, 14, 21, and 28, during library hours, Harmony Library

Stop by to pick up a different craft to take home each week. Crafts are on a first-come, first-served basis.


Kids Paint!

Saturday, September 19, 11 a.m., Harmony Library outdoors (weather permitting)

Age Level: Ages 8 and up

Bring your creativity for a fun afternoon of painting with Miss Kat! All supplies will be provided. Space is limited to 5 participants and registration is required for this free program. Note: Participants must wear a mask, and social distancing guidelines will be followed.

Adult Programs

Local Gardens: An Armchair Tour

Wednesday, September 16, September 23, and September 30, 7 p.m., Zoom

Join us for a virtual tour of three local gardens from the comfort of your armchair. We will visit one cut flower garden and two gardens that include vegetables and flowers. What varieties were grown? How did we manage the hot and dry weather? Did we encounter any pests or diseases? Find out the answers to these questions and add a few of your own questions.


Yarn Birds

Tuesday, September 29, 6 p.m., and Wednesday, September 30, 11 a.m., Harmony Library

Adults and teens (14+) will learn how to make a cute wild bird out of yarn, pipe cleaners, and beads. No special skills are needed, and all materials will be provided. Space is limited to four participants and registration is required for this free program. Note: Participants must wear a mask, and workstations will be spaced six feet apart.

Book Discussion Groups

Glocester Senior Center Book Discussion

Wednesday, September 9, 1 p.m., Glocester Senior Center or Harmony Library

It is a new year for our book discussion group, and the group based at the Glocester Senior Center loves to welcome new members. The group meets the second Wednesday of each month from September through June at 1 p.m. If the Senior Center is closed due to COVID-19, meetings will be held at the Harmony Library. In September, we will be discussing the New York Times bestselling novel, A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles. Copies of the book are available at the Harmony Library.

Mystery Book Discussion Group
