Term 2 Week 5
Nau mai, Haere mai ki Uenuku
Kia ora
What a busy few weeks we've had in Uenuku, with New Zealand Sign Language week, Friendship week and Pink Shirt Day, Outdoor Classroom Day and New Zealand Music Month in May. This week we recognise Samoan Language week through story, music and art.
Today we are pleased to welcome Isabella and her family to Uenuku.
Life Education
Just after Queen's birthday weekend, starting on Tuesday 07 June, Life Education and Harold will be coming for a visit. Class lessons have a health focus with all children taking part in this programme. Please give a $6 donation per child towards the costs of running the Life Education programme. Payment can be made on Kindo or by sending a named envelope to the office with $6 inside.
Students Sharing News and Their Interests
One of our students had the fantastic idea that they would like to formalise the opportunities the children have to share their news, interests or hobbies. To this end we will be introducing a session each week when the children will have an opportunity to share something important to them with their home group. This will be on a roster system. We will be in touch soon with more specific dates for each child.
Changes to library days
Home groups will now be attending the library on their own, once a week.
Room 6 tamariki (Rebecca's home group) will go to the library on Wednesdays.
Room 7 tamariki (Miss Jensen's home group) will go to the library on Thursdays.
Jumping June
You will have received (via your child's book bag) some information about our school wide fundraising event in aid of the Heart Foundation. Jumping June will involve us participating in a range of jumping and skipping activities in PE over the next few weeks, and culminate in a whole school event when we all jump and skip together to raise funds. Please contact alisha@paparangi.school.nz for more information.
How can we help?
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or wonderings. We can respond via email or phone, or a quick verbal chat at drop off or pick up time.
