Parent Newsletter
July 2020
Hello Parents,
IMPORTANT: Parent Reentry Letter
Hello ILH Families,
I am reaching out to communicate our re-entry plan. I know you are all anxious to know the plan and be able to set your own plans for your children! First, I want you to know that we had two goals with this plan. First, we wanted to ensure safety for all staff and students. Second, we wanted to choose the plan that allowed us to provide the best possible learning experiences within the current health guidelines.
After a lot of planning and seeking feedback from school leaders, the Marion County Health Department and our authorizer, we have developed the following plan:
We will run the same school calendar and start school on July 27.
Students will attend school Monday through Friday from 8:00-2:00 which is a shortened day which will ensure there is time for a full cleaning daily.
Students will have their own materials and desks and stay cohorted in one classroom for the duration of the day. Teachers will move room to room to provide instruction.
Students will be temperature screened daily.
Students will eat breakfast and lunch in the classroom at their desk.
Students and staff will wear masks in all common areas. While they are at their desks masks will only be worn if the student chooses to wear it.
Students will have an assigned bathroom stall and it will be cleaned after every use.
Every classroom will have hand sanitizer pumps and students and staff will be encouraged to sanitize regularly.
We will not use backpacks. All homework will be submitted by picture on Class Dojo or Google Classroom. Any item sent home may stay at home and students are not to bring anything to school except for a coat/jacket, bottle of water, and lunch boxes for those who bring a lunch.
We will not be using the water fountains. Students are encouraged to bring their own bottled water and teachers will have water in case a student needs a water refill.
Visitors will not be allowed into the classroom wing and if they enter the office they will need to wear a mask.
Students will be kept socially distanced within classrooms and will be provided their own computer to use while in class.
Any student who shows signs or symptoms of illness will be separated from the staff and students and must be picked up immediately from the school. We will follow all CDC and MCHD guidelines for their return.
These are the basic parts of our plan. Please feel free to reach out with questions via class Dojo or by email at aostler@inventlearning.org. You may also call the school office at 317-832-4900. I am more than willing to talk individually with parents by appointment. We can schedule a virtual meeting or talk by phone. I also want to share that I will run 2 virtual parent meetings where I will go through our plan and answer any questions you may have. Those meetings will happen at the following dates and times:
July 8 at 11:00 am
July 8 at 6:30 pm
Please remember that I am here to discuss any individual circumstances or questions. We want this to be a success for staff, students and parents!
Sincerely,
Aleicha Ostler
Executive Director

To limit the amount of guests in the building, we are only providing tours to new incoming families. These must be scheduled in advance with Mr. Edwards by calling our office or email (jedwards@inventlearning.org) The tours will be limited to just the child(ren) and their parents. Whenever possible we would prefer that only one parent accompany the child. Face coverings must be worn for the entire duration of the visit.
