CISD RETURN TO SCHOOL
As we prepare to begin face-to-face instruction for those learners that have selected that option, I would like to assure you that a tremendous amount of work has been happening behind the scenes to prepare our educators and our building. Learner and educator safety is our top priority, and that will require a new level of flexibility as we adjust and update many campus procedures.
Thank you in advance for helping us maintain a safe learning environment!
As always, the Coppell ISD "Return-to-School Guide" remains the best source for details and guidance on measures we are taking to keep our Lee and Coppell ISD community safe. You may access it below.

A Message from Nurse Ameira
Our school nurse has this amazing resource for our back to school clinic practices.
Health Pre-Screening
Health Pre-Screening
Staff and students are expected to pre-screen for a fever and COVID-related symptoms daily. Anyone with a fever of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher should NOT come to school or visit a CISD facility.
Additionally, students and staff should pre-screen for any of the following symptoms before coming to school:
- Feeling feverish or a measured temperature greater than or equal to 100 degrees Fahrenheit
- Loss of taste or smell
- Cough
- Difficulty breathing
- Shortness of breath
- Headache
- Chills
- Sore throat
- Shaking or exaggerated shivering
- Significant muscle pain or ache
- Diarrhea
Per the CISD Return-to-School Guide, students and staff will be required to report to Coppell ISD if a) they have come into close contact with an individual who is test-confirmed with COVID-19; or b) they themselves have COVID-19 symptoms.
ARRIVAL
- The building will not be open until 7:15am. Educators will be on duty to monitor and assist learners.
- We ask that all learners open their own car doors.
- Parents should remain in vehicles at all time.
- Masks should be on and social distancing should be practiced by all adults and children on school property.
- Learners who arrive by bus will exit the bus one at a time, practice social distancing when walking in, and will get hand sanitizer when entering the building.
- Learners who eat breakfast can get a "grab and go" meal and eat in the cafeteria.
- All learners will walk straight to class upon arrival.
Parents will be unable to walk their child to class on September 8th. Rather, we will have staff stationed throughout the building to greet learners and ensure they make it to their classroom!
LUNCH
- Learners may continue to bring a lunch or purchase a meal through the serving line. Adjustments have been made to our lunch table setup so that learners will maintain a distance of 6 feet while at lunch and while in the serving line.
- Unfortunately, Lee Elementary remains closed to visitors until further notice, so parents are currently unable to eat with their child in the Cafe or bring them lunch.
- Because of the new safety guidelines in place, we will no longer be able to accommodate parents bringing learners their lunch. Learners that forget their lunch at home will be able to obtain a lunch through the Cafe line.
- The application for free or reduced price meals from the CISD Child Nutrition Department is now available for the 2020-2021 school year at go.coppellisd.com/freereducedlunchapplication. CISD Child Nutrition will provide meals at the free and reduced rates to those who qualify, whether you choose in-person or distance learning.
RECESS
- Learners will wear their masks during recess with a designated area for mask breaks.
DISMISSAL
- Learners being picked up by car will wait outside in the front in appropriately distanced spaces.
- On day one, please write your child's first and last name and grade level on a piece of paper and put it in your front dashboard.
- We will provide you with a car tag to use after day one. This needs to be displayed every day on your rear view mirror.
- Learners who go home by bus or daycare van will enter the buses one at a time, practice social distancing, and will wear a mask.
SUPPLIES AND IPADS
- Please be ready with the following items to make your 1st day back a success!
- 2 Masks (1 to wear + a spare) - All learners (as well as staff) will be required to wear a face mask on campus. We will have additional masks for learners that may need them.
- Charged CISD iPad and Charger - Learners are expected to bring their CISD-issued device and charger to be used for on-campus instruction. It will come home nightly to recharge.
- Water Bottle - Campus drinking fountains have been closed, but bottle-filling stations remain open. Please bring a labeled water bottle to help stay hydrated!
- 2 Masks (1 to wear + a spare) - All learners (as well as staff) will be required to wear a face mask on campus. We will have additional masks for learners that may need them.
- Clothing - Please keep a change of clothes for your child to keep in their backpack.
- School Supplies - Please send in any school supplies that you have purchased. If you pre-purchased school supplies through the PTO, but did not pick them up in August, they are waiting for your child in their classroom. We will not use shared supplies, so it would be helpful for your child to have a pencil box or bag to put their supplies in.
- Earbuds or Headphones - Your child will want to hear their digital content. Please send in a personal set of headphones or earbuds.
GENERAL INFORMATION
- No visitors will be allowed in the building unless you have a pre-arranged appointment.
- If your learner arrives late, please stay in your car and call the front office at 214-496-7900 to have someone let them in.
- We will not be able to make deliveries of food, masks, water bottles, lunhces, etc. to classrooms.
- Water fountains are closed except for the refillable stations. You will want to send a labeled water bottle with your child.
- You may send a snack with your learner. They will have a designated snack time where learners can be distanced enough to take off their masks and eat their snacks and be monitored by the educator.
- Please make sure your child has a mask with them each day. They will wear it all times unless it is a designated "mask break" time with supervision by the educator and appropriate distancing.
- Please send an extra change of clothes for ALL K-5 learners to leave in their backpacks.
