Last week, our administration conducted assemblies in which Comm Arts behavior was introduced to new students or reviewed for current ones. As a friendly reminder, dress code issues will be addressed more rigorously now that everyone has been taught the acceptable way to be prepared to learn. Please help us by reminding your child(ren) to follow all school rules, which also includes wearing their IDs for safety purposes. Thanks so much for your support!

Tuesday, September 12th, is picture day for Seniors! Seniors, stop by Ms. De La Rosa's room (C205) for your picture times. Grades are due this Friday, September 15th, for Progress reports. Progress reports will be available on HAC on Monday, September 18th.

Our Student Council will have its first meeting on September 14th during the second half of lunch in Mr. Harris' room.

The counselors will be visiting 9th grade Adv. English 1 classes on Friday, September 15th, to provide a guidance lesson. The counselors will cover the following topics - high school graduation requirements, how to monitor grades and attendance, and high school vocabulary.

Campus Needs Assessment - Your child will receive a Needs Assessment via email within the next two weeks in a Google form to ask about counseling services. The purpose of the Needs Assessment is to help us to identify and prioritize how to best serve our campus.

As we head to the 3rd week of school and students are settling into a school routine, it’s important for students to take preventative measures to help them stay on track by making good grades, thus reducing their stress and/or anxiety levels. One of the ways to reduce stress/anxiety is to stay organized, such as managing your time wisely, having a clean and neat area to study, away from distractions, etc... Northside ISD is hosting a College Board Preliminary Scholastic Assessment Test, or PSAT, on Wednesday, October 11th. The PSAT is optional this year for 10th graders. Sophomores who choose to participate must register by September 20th to participate and pay a $20 testing fee. There is a reduced fee of $10 for students who receive free or reduced lunch. All 9th and 11th graders will be registered to take the PSAT.

In order to register, students should click on the link provided on the school website or visit www.TotalRegistration.net/PSAT/446139 to register. To complete registration, students must answer all of the required questions. Registration is not complete until students have printed the pdf of the confirmation page that is provided at the end.

Comm Arts students will have a separate registration process from Taft High School.

Here are the important dates for the registration process:

• Thu, Sep 21, 2023 at 12:01 AM - Registrations and payments after this date will incur a $5 late fee.

• Tue, Sep 26, 2023 - Registrations that have not been paid for will be canceled, and exams will not be ordered.
