Holland Elementary School Message
December 20, 2018
Hello HES Families,
Each day, the staff at HES hopes to provide a fun day of learning for each child. This seemed to happen in significant fashion each day this week. The children are so excited about the holiday season, and they were able to be engaged in so many wonderful learning opportunities related to the holidays. We have our Cozy Day set for Friday, and it's going to be a great way to head into the winter break.
On Friday, we have our classroom holiday parties at 2:45, and I know that there is a lot of excitement for these events. If you're helping out at your child's party and want to sign out another one of your children, please be sure to let the office staff know about this when you receive your visitor badge upon entering the school. We'll make a list of students to call down to the office for dismissal, and hopefully this will alleviate any challenges at the end of a what will likely be a very busy day at school. Thank you.

Mitten Tree
Special thanks to the Holland Elementary PTO for purchasing a tree for our Mitten Tree service project based on the book “The Mitten Tree.” Kindly help our project by donating new mittens, new gloves, and new hats to keep little hands and heads warm this winter! All donations will be given to children living in our own community.
Children can place these items on our “Mitten Tree” that will be located at the front of the school. Donations will be accepted until the holiday break. Thank you for your generosity!
Science Fair
Holland’s Eighth Annual Science Fair will be held on Monday, January 14, 2019 from 6:00-7:30 PM! All K-6 students are encouraged to participate. Researching scientific ideas and using the scientific method are powerful learning experiences.
Students should start thinking about what their entry could be! And this is a great activity for your child for over the winter break. A project can be an experiment, a demonstration, a scientific collection, or information on a scientific topic. Students can work individually or in a small group.
A link for ideas for projects and the science fair guidelines can be found on the Holland Elementary website at the following LINK.
Science fair journals are available in the school’s office, and this will help students with planning their projects. Also, the Holland PTO has purchased a tri-fold board for each science fair presentation. Boards can also be picked up in the office.
