December 2020
Message from Principal
There is no doubt that 2020 has been a challenging year in the education world. We closed in March, using packets to provide learning assignments for the remainder of the year. In September, we reopened virtually, then shifted to hybrid for some of our students, teaching half the students for two days in person with other students completing at home assignments. Now we have shifted back to virtual for almost all of our students due to increasing cases in our area.
While this has certainly been a challenge for our staff and students, it has also been a challenge for our families. You are navigating jobs while also making sure your child attends school virtually and both completes and understands assignments. You believe in your child and want to give them the best you can and make sure that you are spending time monitoring their work. You are in many cases doing this while also working from home or watching younger students, caring for other family members and navigating an uncertain world and economy.
As we shift back to an almost all virtual learning environment, we want you to know that we continue to appreciate all you do. Our Enon Gators are working hard and we are grateful for your work to support your child and their learning.
We have two December events that I wanted you to be aware of:
Light It Up With Lexia!
I've included information about our Light It Up With Lexia class contest to encourage students to continue their reading throughout December. See the information below! We will tally up Lexia minutes to find the two classes with the highest percentages who will win a virtual dance party to celebrate their reading. We will also bring two students a special lunch delivered (socially distanced of course) by myself and Ms. Riddick. I hope you will encourage your child to use Lexia from December 12 through January 4!
Virtual Fortnight- Bermuda District Spirit Weeks!
Thomas Dale High School is sponsoring a Bermuda District Spirit Week (Virtual Fortnight) for all of their feeder schools. Monday begins with Hat Day. See the graphic below for all of our spirit days.
Again, thank you for your support as we close out our calendar year. I hope you have a wonderful two week holiday and look forward to working with you in 2021!
