The academic year ahead of us has many opportunities for new achievements and inspiration for our entire community. Our teachers, staff, and administrators are ready to welcome students and families back to the classrooms and partner for another successful year of learning and growing.

We look forward to connecting with our families and seeing our students advance and reach their academic goals as they prepare for college and careers.

In the newsletter below, you will find pertinent information as we prepare for another successful school year. Welcome back to school!

Sincerely,

Welcome to the new school year!

COVID Protocols

As we prepare to welcome staff and students back to school, we want to share a couple of important updates with you.

The Alameda County Public Health Department (ACPHD) and the Alameda County Office of Education (ACOE) released the Alameda County 2022-2023 School Guidance. These recommendations guide the district’s health and safety protocols for the upcoming school year as follows:

Masking

Face masks are strongly recommended indoors and optional outdoors for staff and students.

Notifications

All COVID case and exposure notifications will continue for the upcoming school year for families and staff.

Positive Cases

Students and staff who test COVID positive need to stay home and test on Day 5.

  • If they test negative, they can return to school on Day 6.

  • If they test positive, they can stay in isolation until Day 10 or test again between Day 6 and Day 10 to see if they are negative.

Visitors and Volunteers

Families are warmly welcomed on campus before/after school but must check in at the school office during the instructional day. Volunteers are welcomed with proof of vaccination and prior authorization. Please visit the schools’ websites for additional information.

Free At Home COVID Testing Kits

FREE take-home COVID tests are available for all EUSD students and staff at all schools, starting on Monday, August 15, 2022. Testing prior to the start of school is highly recommended to reduce contagion but is not required. Please look for additional information from your school regarding available pickup times.

EUSD will no longer offer weekly COVID testing with Concentric but we will continue to offer free antigen COVID tests to all students and staff as requested and/or recommended by health officials. Here is a link to free local testing locations as an additional resource.

Monkeypox

At this time, there is no public health guidance specific to Monkeypox in our schools, largely because students are considered low risk for contracting Monkeypox. EUSD will continue to consult with the ACPHD to stay current on Monkeypox protocols, in the event that a case is confirmed at one of our schools.
