Super Bowl Sunday!
I am choosing to spend today celebrating Seneca. Below are some highlights from the week and weekend. This 6th grade class coming in next year is going to be awesome, and what better way to introduce them to Seneca then having our student leaders guide them and answer panel questions.
On Friday, there was a diversity recruitment fair to get great teachers excited about working in LCPS. There were 15 administrators at 8 tables. What stood out to me was 3 of the 15 leaders from the 90 plus schools and central office were from Seneca Ridge. I love that this team continues to emphasize the value in the diversity of our students and staff.
On Saturday, my daughter and I were treated to an all-district chorus concert where 15 of Ms. Shoemaker's students performed. It was lights out amazing! In 7th Grade, Janat Asim, Isabella Deaso, Harry Greer, Dustin Nguyen, Arabella Warnick; and in 8th Grade Nia Arora, Emaan Danish, Samantha Davis, Amaya Desnoyers, Kayleigh Keegan, Yusra Naveed, Kiki Riggle, Lilly Shipley, Noah Van Wyngaardt, and Alina Wasiuddin made us so proud!
Last by not least, on Sunday, our Science Olympiad team was busy practicing and improving their craft. I will send full roster and pictures when we get to the competition.
I LOVE THIS COMMUNITY!
Black History Month
We also want to highlight an amazing bulletin board constructed by Mr. Bland in House A and advertise that we would love a large group of students to participate in our poster contest. Information below and attached. More information to come as we continue to embrace the diversity of our community knowing that is a large part of what makes us great!
COVID Updates
After only 1 positive test the week prior, we continue to have extremely low numbers at Seneca. This week, we had no quarantines or isolations in 8th grade, 2 isolations in 7th grade, and 1 quarantine in 6th grade. Keep up the great work!
Thank you for filling in the form to help us with contact tracing if your child tests positive.

NOW is the time for families to engage on these conversations. Please begin these conversations today if you haven't done so already.

Staffing Update
THANK YOU, PARENTS!
Seneca's substitute pool is made up primarily of parents, who seem to be truly enjoying their time here. Please reach out to kimberly.fangmeyer@lcps.org if you are interested in applying. We also have parents looking to be clinic aides and helping with beautification. Below is a new bulletin board that one of our dedicated parent volunteers just completed this week. It makes me smile every time I walk down the house hallway!
Club Update- Student Gardening!
We were running many clubs in January, but due to the COVID spike, we had some that were on hiatus. All clubs are back and running now.

8th Grade Class Celebration Information
8th Grade Awards will be done in the morning and the party will be in the afternoon. More details on party specifics to follow.
Volunteers needed! Check out the link below for ways you can help with the SRMS 8th grade class celebration:
8th Grade Celebration Fundraisers
- You’ve Been Bolted! is a school wide fundraiser we are doing in an effort to offset the cost of the 8th grade class celebration. This fundraiser will start March 7th with the first set of deliveries going out on March 14th. In order for our group to fulfill all of our orders by the end of May AND due to high demand, the link to purchase signs only stays open for a short period of time
- “Congratulations” yard signs: Parents can place an order for a Congratulatory yard sign with a personalized message for their student. Each sign is $25 and all proceeds go towards the 8th grade class celebration. These yard signs will be distributed in May by a team of parent volunteers.
