Weekly G.R.I.P. Winners

All HRE students know about G.R.I.P. - an acronym which stands for Gratitude Respect Integrity Purpose. Students may earn "GRIP SLIPS" by demonstrating any one of these character traits. Each week, teachers draw one name from their classroom Grip Slips and that student is the Grip Slip winner for the week from that classroom. Those names are then entered into a weekly drawing per grade level; one name is drawn per grade level and those students come to the office to choose a small prize. We are pleased to announce our Grip Slip winners for the week:

Kindergarten: Caylin Lika from Mrs. Sergi's class demonstrated Integrity.

1st Grade: Isabella Balbo from Mrs. Wellington's class demonstrated Purpose.

2nd Grade: Asher Flick from Mrs. Loftus' class demonstrated Purpose.

3rd Grade: Nandini Gali from Miss. Otto's class demonstrated Integrity.

4th Grade: Landon Irvin from Mrs. Mitchell's class demonstrated Gratitude.

Veterans Day Program

Hoosier Road's much anticipated annual Veterans Day Program will be held in the gym on Friday, November 10th at 9:30 AM. Doors will open at 9:15 AM. Please enter through Door 10 (near the gym). Our first through fourth graders will all be performing.

Due to space limitations, we are asking that only one parent per participating student attend; sorry, no siblings. However, if a parent would like to bring a veteran or someone currently serving in our armed forces as a special guest, they are welcome and encouraged to do so.

To speed up the entrance process and help with seating, there will be two lines located at the gym door (exit 10) -- one for parents with veterans and one for parents only. This is considered a public event so no background checks will be required.

Prizm Video Productions will be professionally filming our program and will offer DVDs for sale at $20 per copy. Please CLICK HERE for an order form.

Our first through fourth graders are very excited to celebrate Veterans Day through singing, reading and honoring those who have served our country so that we may enjoy all of our freedoms.

Please have your child check for lost items

The lost and found (located in the office workroom) is literally overflowing with coats, jackets, lunch boxes and a variety of other items. Please have your child ask their teacher to check the lost and found on their way to or from lunch this week. All the items remaining in the lost and found will be donated to a local charity on Friday, November 10th.

Consider Donating

Bring your donation of gently used clothing to the Goodwill Bin located in the entrance, just before the office. For every 13-gallon bag of clothing donated, HRE will receive a Goodwill clothing voucher to distribute to those in need.

Operation Gratitude

Don't forget to send in your extra Halloween candy to our troops overseas. All types of wrapped, store-bought candy (except Pixie Sticks) will be accepted. Our goal is to collect 800 pounds of candy! As of the end of day on Thursday, our students have collected more than 200 pounds of candy! It's not too late to send in your extra candy and help us reach our goal!

To learn more about Operation Gratitude as well as how the candy is donated, visit:

We will continue to collect candy through Tuesday, November 7th, so be sure to send in any unwanted Halloween candy!

Thank you for helping us to help others and demonstrate "Gratitude" to our brave service men and women.
