Middle School Summer Sessions
Region 7 Education Service Center
June 5th - Middle School Science - Matter and Energy
Matter and Energy can be difficult concepts for not only students but teachers as well. In this session for grades 6-8 teachers, we will learn ways to build on prior knowledge while confronting misconceptions.
June 15th - Middle School Science - Earth and Space
The study of space is not only massive but can be overwhelming. What vocabulary words do you address? How deep do you go? What are activities that address the standards? These are a few of the questions we will address for grades 6-8 in this session.
June 21st - Middle School Science - Organisms and the Environment
In this session, participants will address Category 4, organisms and their environment, from grades 6-8. We will breakdown the TEKS and look at data and released items. Teachers will also engage in activities that address those standards and promote critical thinking.
July 19th - 20th - Science Academies for Grades 5-8 (Part 2 - Force, Motion & Energy)
Experience a total immersion into the Category 2 TEKS for grades 5-8 during this two day professional development. Participants will explore hands-on, student-centered lessons framed in the research-based 5E instructional model. These sessions provide connections to and strengthen participants' knowledge of College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS), English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS), and Response to Intervention (RtI).
