Principal's Report

Kia Ora e te whānau,

Welcome to the end of Week 4. With just over four weeks to the end of the school year, we are almost half way through the term.

With the beautiful Summer weather, we have been enjoying this week, the staff have been reviewing our SunSafe procedures.

Sun hats are a compulsory part of our school uniform in terms 1 and 4. I have been very impressed by the way all our students have been wearing their sun hats when they are outside. Thank you to our seniors who have been terrific role models with this.

All the classrooms now have sunblock available. If your child has an allergy to some kinds of sunblock, you are welcome to send a named bottle to school, which can be kept in the classroom for their personal use, or alternatively, encourage your child to put sunblock on before leaving home in the morning.

We also need to ensure that our students stay hydrated. Under level 2, we are unable to operate the school drinking fountains, so please make sure your child has a named drink bottle every day.

Hopefully we are going to have a long, hot Summer and we can practise our sun safe skills everyday!

Ngā mihi nui,

Vicki Neave

Room 2

Here are a couple of pictures from Room 2's busy week. Olivia is working hard learning how to send an email to the school librarian for the Library Challenge. In maths, the whole class have made a paper chain of events that happen over the day while they explore the theme of Time. Finally, Suasamani demonstrated a perfect example of our school value of integrity by spending lunchtime on Tuesday picking up all the bits of litter he could find in the playground. Amazing work Mani!

Room 3

Room 3 has been making the most of the nice weather and getting outside to learn some new skills. We have been working on balancing and jumping. We also tried out some cosmic yoga and ended up in some interesting shapes.

Room 4

Room 5

Lexi, Tristan, Blake, Paige, Chloe T, Ana and Hunter entered a scavenger hunt set by Powernet over the last lockdown. Yesterday we received a class prize for entering. Thanks to POWERNET for the challenge!

Room 12 has been enjoying the swimming opportunities.

Room 11

Room 11 students have been working through their Genius Hour projects. Nala and Maddy organised icecreams for senior students and the money raised will be passed on to the Cancer Society. Brylee and Maddi handed over the money they raised, by selling milkshakes last term, to our local Food Bank. So much learning involved - from handling money to organising the timely distribution of the ice cream and milkshakes.

Saveloy Fridays

We continue to have our Saveloys available each Friday this term. $2 for saveloy, bread and sauce.

If you would like to pay online - please pay into our bank account 02-0900-0000452-00.
