PURCHASING DEADLINE - 3/2/18
The drop dead deadline for using the money that was budgeted for you to spend on instructional supplies for the 2017-2018 school year is: Friday, March 2, 2018. No Orders will be accepted after Friday, March 2, 2018 @ 4 PM. Please be sure to finalize your purchases, complete the order forms appropriately (see Karen if you aren't sure), etc. no later than Friday, March 2, 2018 @ 4 PM.
Literacy Committee/Panda Plunge Challenge
How AWESOME would it be if teachers were to set an award for their class to receive if ALL students in their class complete the challenge??? Not a requirement. Just a thought!

Information on FY 2019 Proposed Budget Materials
Superintendent to Present FY 2019 Budget to the School Board on February 7. Dr. Walts will present his proposed fiscal year (FY 2019) Budget for the period beginning July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019 and Capital Improvements Program (CIP) to the School Board at the Board’s February 7 meeting. You can view it via live television broadcast on PWCS-TV, at pwcstv.com, or on video-on-demand via the web after the presentation.
Divisionwide Survey Administration Started January 9
The 2017-18 administration of the Divisionwide Survey is scheduled for January 9–29. This year, students in grades 3–12, all parents, and all staff members will be asked to complete the survey. Thank you to Evelyn McKay, Survey Coordinator Extradonaire for Signal Hill!
Holidays and Workdays
January 2018 Elementary School Winter Conference Day & Teacher PD/Workday
January and February include holidays on:
• Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, January 15; and
• Presidents' Day, Monday, February 19.
Also,
On Friday, January 26:
• Elementary schools will dismiss on a half-day schedule for parent/teacher conferences. Schools are asked to make appropriate adjustments to lunch schedules so that all students can have a regular lunch prior to going home;
• Head Start VPI, VPI+ Title 1 Preschool, and Preschool Special Education classes will not be held.
• The School Age Child Care (SACC) program will be open from the half-day dismissal time until regular closing (6:30 p.m.) for students who are registered either for after-school care or for before- and after-school care. Before-care only students may not attend the afternoon program.
On Monday, January 29 (a teacher workday for all schools), SACC will offer a full day program from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. for all SACC students. Some of the SACC programs will be combined. This information is posted in an announcement on the PWCS website.
February is School Board Appreciation Month—Posters Due January 29
Please help us celebrate our PWCS School Board and our School Board Member, Mr. Willie Deutsch and his dedication to PWCS during the month of February. Thank you cards, artwork, or notes of appreciation should be sent to the front office by Friday, January 26, 2018. We will get them to the KLC on Monday, January 29, 2018 (the official day they are due to the KLC for display purposes).
Note: Please do not send work from student portfolios because artwork cannot be returned.

Consider attending if you are asking yourself any of these questions about the upcoming Intent/Transfer process:
• How do I participate in the transfer process? (Instructional personnel only)
• What happens if I am overstaffed?
• I can’t log into PWCS WorkSpace. What should I do?
• Does submitting my letter of intent commit me to the selection I made on the form?
• What is ESS?
