A Note from Your Principals
This week our Attendance Team met to review February's attendance data. As we've done all year, we want to share that data with you, as partners in our shared goal of students regularly attending school.
February's attendance by the numbers:
- 94%: the average percent of students present each day - our goal is 95%
- 15.09% or 78 students: our student population considered "chronically absent" - our goal is 5% or less than 25 students
- 95%: Grade 1's average daily attendance which was the highest grade this month!
- 93%: Grade 2's average daily attendance which was the lowest grade this month!
- 12 students: the number of students considered chronically tardy
- 18 students: the number of students who have attended 100% of the days we've been in school
As we head into our final trimester of the school year, let's continue to make attendance a priority. We know that each day a student misses impacts their access to classroom instruction and their academic achievement. See below for a great visual reminder about the impact and importance of regular attendance at school!
Next Week's PTO Meeting
We want to have as many in attendance as possible as there are many exciting end of year activities coming up. We hope you'll log-in at 7PM and join Wednesday's conversation!
There are 2 ways your family can participate:
Showcase your cultural identity:
Create a display with information, pictures, and items from your culture
Share food from your culture
Share traditions from your culture such as games and clothing
2. Come and learn about the cultures that we celebrate in our community.
For planning purposes, please complete the Google Form below to attend and/or participate. Please RSVP no later than April 6th!

Thank you to the Eli Terry community for a fantastic book fair! We had our highest pre-tax sales ever - $12,082.64! From this, the school will earn $6,041.23 in Scholastic Dollars. We also earned an additional $1208.25 in Scholastic Dollars for multiple successful fairs!
So what have we been doing with the Scholastic Dollars?
During this particular book fair, we spent $1323.15 of our current balance in various ways. The majority of the dollars spent was to ensure all students left the fair with one book - if they came without money to spend, we offered up to a $10 book for each. We also covered small dollar differences - much of this came from the introduction of state sales tax back in the fall. We weren't going to turn a kid's purchase away because they didn't have enough to cover sales tax.
Prior to the fair, all classroom libraries received 6-8 books of many fair bestsellers (which Scholastic offers at a discount). The media center also received copies of these books, as well as the PAWs raffle! In order to accomplish this, we spent $869.71.
Our goal has always been to put more books into the school and our students' hands - mission accomplished (at least for now)! The PTO will be reviewing the Scholastic offerings to see what else we can put back into the school with these funds.
We have one more fair to go this school year - our BOGO one the week of Memorial Day, more info to come!
Thank you again for supporting our book fair!
