Mrs. Bohr's Final Message

Principal Selection Input

As you know by now, Principal Mary Bohr will be leaving Penny Road to lead a new school in Garner. We will be in the very capable hands of Interim Principal John Williams until the new principal is hired.

A principal selection parent input session was held on Wednesday, January 24 by Dr. Ashlie Thompson. This was a time to give input on characteristics and leadership skills we would like to see in the next principal at Penny Road Elementary.

If you missed the input session, but would still like to have your voice heard, please review the PDF below. Any feedback can be sent to The 2nd page of the PDF is a great guide as to the questions that were asked and the exercise we completed to share our feedback with Dr. Thompson. All feedback must be received by Friday, February 2, so please don't delay!

Open Houses at Penny Road

Prospective students and families interested in Penny Road for the 2018-2019 school year are invited to come tour our school and meet our teachers and staff! Open Houses will be held on Tuesday, January 30 at 4:30 pm and Thursday, February 8 at 9:30 am.

Penny Road’s Annual Spring Carnival is May 11, 2018!

This year’s Spring Carnival is called Penny’s Beach Blast! Even though Carnival is not until May, our committee is already hard at work putting it together. The committee works on admissions, entertainment, games, food, sponsors, donations, and volunteers for the event. We are looking for more volunteers to help out! The first Carnival planning meeting is on Wednesday, January 31 at 9:15 am in the conference room. If you have questions or are interested in joining us, please contact Spring Carnival chairs Denise Rose or Jennifer Greco

Teacher Luncheon

The next teacher luncheon will be the “Souper Bowl!” On Friday, February 2, all the teachers will represent their favorite football team and can judge the best soup or chili cooked by none other than our Penny Road Parents. This luncheon will be completely parent donated - and we know that we have some men out there with some awesome chili recipes too, so make sure that they know about the contest!

We are asking for soups, chili & salads along with desserts and drinks. Please sign up today and help the teachers have a "souper" lunch!

Sweetheart Dance - Volunteers Needed!

With our 1st Sweetheart Dance right around the corner, we need your help to make this event a fun one for students and their (grown-up) sweethearts. Please check out the slots available and join us. Just one hour of your time would make a difference! Thank you!

The deadline to purchase pictures and return the envelopes is Thursday, February 15.

Flu Season

We have been able to remain really healthy through this flu season and we want to make sure we keep on this track. Please make sure you keep your child home when they are sick. Remember that children should be fever free for 24 hours before they can come back to school. It is so important to all of us to keep our children safe and healthy.

Snow Make-up Days

The snow was a blast while it lasted and the extra days with the kids was an unexpected surprise. Now, it's back to our regularly scheduled program. To help with your family planning and general organization, here is a listing of the snow make-up days for Penny Road.
