Leadership Notes:
Dear Cimarron Families,
It has been a fantastic couple weeks at Cimarron Middle School! The students in this community constantly look at ways to become successful and grow as they take the arduous journey of this time of their lives.
Just like this image, we know, as parents, the road traveled has different twists and turns. Students at this age tend to think success comes in a straight line with no obstacles and failures. In reality, the obstacles and failures create learning opportunities. Each experience provides opportunities of growth in character development, perseverance and grit to prepare them for adulthood.
As a parent, this might be difficult as there are high points and low points for our kids. Our hearts glow with excitement some days and hurt on others. Our job is to help students make decisions during each checkpoint. Guiding them to make their own decisions causes them feel ownership and responsibility. In turn, as kids grow into adults, they will be prepared with what every reality comes their way. At Cimarron, we value the opportunity to share this important time of your child’s life with you. Thank you for your partnership in this journey.
Thanks,
Chris Zimmerman, Principal

Cimarron MS Safety Letter
Safety is a priority at Cimarron Middle School. Here are a few timely reminders to keep students safe coming to and going from school. Please see attached letter.
Middle School Sports Survey
8th grade tackle football requires expensive equipment and athlete participation has dropped in recent years, so the program is being evaluated. We would appreciate your opinion regarding sports offerings at the middle school level. If you have more than one student in our middle schools, we would appreciate it if you could take the survey for each of your children.
Please complete this survey by February 24, 2017.
Thank you for your assistance.
Cimarron MS wins Verizon App Challenge
Students in the STEM program just won Best in State in the Verizon Innovative Learning app challenge! That means their app concept is the best among all the middle school entries in Colorado. They won $5,000 and tablets for every team member! And it gets better—they are in the running for the app challenge Fan Favorite award. To win, their concept needs to get the most votes. Help them win by texting CAREPKGR to 22333 by February 14!

What are DCSD parents saying about Stone Canyon?
“Our camper was a little tentative before she went, but when she returned she couldn't wait to go back next year. She had a fantastic time, the whole time.”
“Our daughter is a true introvert... very shy, quiet and reserved. With the Stone Canyon Summer Camp, she came out of her shell and became more vocal and confident in herself. It was a fantastic growing experience for her.”
