This is the last week of the 2022 - 2023 school years . We are celebrating our Valedictorian and Salutatorian. James Pina is Launch Academy's 2022 -2023 Valedictorian and Karina Robles Leyva is Launch Academy's Salutatorian. These students academic excellence is shown in them having the two highest GPA's in the Senior class. Congratulations James and Karina!

Hello Launch Academy Students (& Parents),

This is the last week of Quarter 4 (Q4) and the 2022 - 2023 school year. We are so proud of the hard work you have put in this school year. Monday, May 29th is a holiday (Memorial Day), there are no live classes, but all CANVAS classes are open for students to continue working. Your goal is to complete your assigned classes before Wednesday this week. Teachers will submit final quarter grades on Wednesday.

This quarter, students do not have additional time to finish Q4 Incomplete classes.

This week we will be holding our first 8th grade Promotion and Senior Graduation, both on Wednesday, May 31st. This will be an exciting time for students, parents, and staff. We are appreciative of our Launch Academy students and wish our Seniors well as they embark into their next chapter in life. We are so proud of you all!

Start planning for next school year:

• Make sure to complete Student Online Registration (OLR) through Infinite Campus Parent Portal regardless of your plans of staying at Launch Virtual Academy or going back to in-person education.
• This summer we will offer the following learning opportunities; Summer Bridge Program, Credit Recovery, and Credit Acceleration. Sign up!

News for the next TWO weeks:.

• On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday- "In-Person (Hybrid) Support" from 9:00am to 1:00pm at our school's administrative offices located at 1411 27th Street, San Diego, CA 91154.
• Monday, May 29th is Memorial Day. While there will be no live sessions, CANVAS classrooms will still be available for you to continue working.

• Thursday, June 1st is our End of the Quarter Celebration for all students from 11am to 1pm at our school's administrative offices located at 1411 27th Street, San Diego, CA 91154. (Lunch will be served.)

Launch Virtual Academy is defined by the California Department of Education (CDE)

as an alternative school or program of choice. Under this category, CDE requires our school to survey our students, parents, and staff and report back to the State Superintendent of Public Instruction our results annually. We would appreciate if you could please complete the survey. It takes about 2-3 minutes to complete.

Summer School is a great opportunity to finish Incomplete classes, remediate classes previously taken at another school where the student received an F, NCP, I, or NM grades and/or to accelerate.

This year, summer school will run from June 5 to June 23, 2023. Students can take up to two classes during summer school. Launch Academy students are welcome to attend in-person (based on their school of residence) or virtually at Launch Academy.

If you are interested in attending in-person Summer School at your school of residence, you will need to self-enroll through your Infinite Campus Student or Parent Portal. Please watch this video for instructions on how to self-enroll.

Please Note:

Launch Academy Counselors will assign Launch Summer School classes based on student academic needs and course availability.

In addition to credit recovery for core classes, we are offering the following classes for acceleration (to get ahead in your credits):

• Integrated Math 8A (for current 7th graders to accelerate to IM 1 in 8th grade)
• Integrated Math 1A and 1B (for current 8th graders to accelerate to IM 2 in 9th grade)
• PE 2A and 2B (for current 9th graders to earn 10th grade PE credit during the summer)
• CTE Video Game Design 1A and 1B (for all high school students to earn a full year of CTE or VAPA credit during the summer)

In order to accelerate in any of the above classes, students must not need to recovery any other credits during Summer School.

We will also be offering credit recovery for current 7th graders:

• English 7A and 7B
• Integrated Math 7A and 7B
• General Science 1A and 1B
