Teachers:
We survived our first RtI meetings and you guys did great! You were prepared and did well about asking questions when necessary. Jennifer was so impressed with everyone!
Next steps: Now all you need to do is teach. Keep the standard you chose to focus on in your mind and make sure you address that these next few weeks. Remember there are lessons attached to those intervention sheets so take a look if you need ideas on how to teach those specific standards. Be sure to assess your RtI students every two weeks and add your data to the back of your intervention form. Jennifer will be here to train us on Nov. 15 (staff meeting) over how to enter this data electronically. Teachers will enter their own data so please make sure you’re here for that training.
Then on Nov. 27 (after Thanksgiving break so take good notes) we will gather together during PLCs and actually enter your data. We’ll also discuss student progress at that time and possibly add new interventions if your students were successful. On Dec. 7 we’ll meet again to discuss just our Tier 3 kids.
*Kinder teachers: On Nov. 27 instead of entering data we’ll discuss your intervention plans and how to fill out those forms. You have a different timeline.
I’m starting to wrap my brain around this new process. Remember, the main goal is to bridge any gaps our students may have. If a student is consistently struggling in class, needs consistent reteach, failing assessments, failing the six weeks, etc. then chances are they belong in the RtI process.
