The Early Childhood Services Department oversees high-quality preschool education opportunities across Wayne County to include the Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) for eligible four-year-old children and the Strong Beginnings pilot for eligible three-year-old children.

Greetings Wayne County,
What an incredibly busy December it's been! We appreciate all the efforts you have been engaged in this last month related to GSRP implementation including marketing for increased enrollment, engaging with Classroom Coach assessments, completing a myriad of survey requests, and all the various ways you are engaged with supporting the children and families of your community.
We hope that during this upcoming winter break you find time to reflect, relax, and rejuvenate. The second half of the 2022-2023 school year is going to be awesome!

Signing Bonuses available in the following amounts :
Lead Teacher : $2,400*
Associate Teacher : $1,200*
Paraeducator / Third Person : $600*
*Incentive amount prior to applicable taxes and withholding; Bonuses are paid to eligible new staff members in two installments - 50% at time of hire, 50% in June 2023.
Signing bonuses are intended to address the critical shortage of GSRP teaching team members by attracting educators who have not been employed in any Wayne County GSRP program in the last 90 days or more.
New GSRP educators who are hired in the eligibility period November 15, 2022 through January 31, 2023 may be eligible to receive the bonus.

Approximately 100 GSRP classrooms are currently missing 1 or more teaching team members, as of Nov. 15th.
Please share these resources widely with your teaching teams and families. There may be a need you’re unaware of or families might not feel comfortable expressing their need for support or resources.

4789 GSRP Recruitment and Enrollment Training 2023-2024SY
Enrollment Training for the 2023-2024 school year for assigned programs. In this session, participants will learn about the changes to the forms and the enrollment process. Attendance for these sessions is assigned - participants should contact their ECC to determine which session they should attend, if any.
5080 GSRP CBO Touchpoint Meetings
Join us for our Community Based Organization (CBO) Touchpoint series to discuss all things Wayne County GSRP.
These informal-yet-informative sessions provide an opportunity for administrators, owners, and directors of our Wayne County Great Start Readiness Program CBOs to engage in meaningful discussion about the successes and challenges of their programs with Wayne RESA Educational Services Associate Superintendent, Beth Gonzalez and Wayne RESA Early Childhood Executive Director, Sophia Lafayette-Lause, Ed.D.
Recruitment and Enrollment
Head Start MOU's
Wayne RESA has secured Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) with each Head Start partner for the 2022-2023 school year that covers all Wayne County GSRP's. Please send any Head Start referral/release forms to your Head Start partner as soon as you receive them.
